Anyone know are hit rating and critical effect with magic damage pls?
Hit rating will only help with a magic attack being dodged. Mages like Shayd have a high miss rate and hit runes do little to counter that.
But they don't Kyleena. Dawn was referring to the dodge factor, not the miss rate.
Miss and dodge are two different things.
Mages have got a miss factor programmed on. Shayd is a good example as she has a high miss rate. Anyone (including me) who had slapped a 100+ hit rate rune noticed that it didn't effect how often she still missed. Apparently Shayd because of her stun ability has a 1 in 3 chance of missing, something Dawnseeker has also confirmed. Misses are peculiar to mages and don't affect physical heroes.
However, a Mage attack can still be dodged. Hence why hit rate runes work for mages. Don't see it much PvP but its there when you attack bosses. To distinguish the two is easy, a miss will show as a miss and dodge will show as one.
Hopefully that's clearer, or more likely as clear as ditch water.
Is a mage even necessary?
Lol! I don't know that anything in this game is "necessary". But I will say the battles i lose most often in even fights are to players with 2 mages (Cath and Meh, Shayd and Cath, Shayd and Meh, Smoulder and any other mage, etc.). When they are starred and runed up right they are powerful. And I have also taken note that most of the top players ion my server have 2 mages in their lineup, or at least one EXTREMELY powerful one.
