The basic problem seems to be that the developers have no real concept of the world. there are other examples, like 150 gems to swap realm after the first one. They play with unlimited resources, in the real world given the simple choice between not playing or paying their prices, what proportion do they think will stop playing? I doubt they have ever done any statistical analysis of cost/benefit for their charges but pick a random number out of the air and decide that is it. They look at these things as revenue streams, but never consider that people will just walk away if they believe they are being scammed. Please Tynon, get some people with real life experience to help make your decisions.

The people that this is needed to slow down are the ones who win Baal and Cerb every single day and get two level 4 gem chips each and every day.
Most people wwill not, unless they are very good at labyrinth, ever get to the point where they need to remove their level 4 gems. Unless you plan to have a boatload of level 4 gem chips, enough to merge into level 5s. you don't need to worry about plunking down the level 4 onyx you just won because you have maybe 12-16 other slots (let's say 4 physical attack toons with champ swords) for whatever other level 4 onyxes you happen to win. They probably will not ever be confronted with the need to remove one of those level 4s. If they are, it means they have put a lot of time into this game, and they aren't just going to walk away because the price is high to remove a gem.

dourdim, that's not the point. I do win Cerb/Baal every day I'm on, and its not because I'm dropping a lot of money. Being smart and focusing on setting up for the boss fights gives me an opportunity to keep up with the big spenders. Eventually we will get to the point where we'll be using lvl 4 and higher stones, and this cost shows that no matter how lucky or smart we are, at some point we will be FORCED to pay to play if we want to advance. I doubt this is the only example we'll discover.
Putting it off until we've been playing for a while and are hopefully invested in the game is part of the plan but its just another cheap way to try to squeeze more money from us.

lvl^= gem cost to remove. sorry pay $20,000 to remove a chip that costs a fortune and no one will get to anyways.
and yes lvl 15 chip is the highest,and individuals found a bug in beta and got them by accident,but they were removed from the peoples heroes,inventory etc.
the Devs thought they would get a billionaire interested enough to play,so the rates were adjusted that high to try and fool them,but thats not the case and this is reality. where people dont spend 1/4 of what they make in a year to move a chip that takes up what? 1/300 possible slots of all the heroes in a formation for the chip. let alone the cost of the chip. which i wont mention because its even more funny to see >_> even if you made it the cheap way of buying lvl 2's with creds/coins the entire way there.
lets say it took 3 months to get your lvl 7 chip,
3x5=15 months=lvl 8
15x5=75 months=lvl 9
75x5=375 months=lvl 10
375x5=1875 months=lvl 11
you're dead. = unattainable even if i tripled the rate i gain id be dead long before a lvl 15 chip lol

Dourdim also,for non coiners. they don't want to use their lvl 4's so they fall behind the rest because they know they will have to target 5's and 6's because they don't coin to constantly move chips around. so even if you spend a lot of time and aren't good at labs,you will still face this problem down the road and it will penalize everyone especially the further into the game you do go.

Im going to have to say
The cost to remove chips should just be removed period. Its hard enough to get to level 15 chips
And will cost plenty of money for many to get all their chips to 15. Yes you can do it for free, but may will drop money to get their chips to 15. More will spend money if there is no cost to remove gems IMO
-
I agree that there should be no cost to remove and/or move chips around. The chips are hard enough to obtain as-is. Forcing a removal cost is just transparent greed and actually gets in the way of gameplay, especially for players who don't pay in (who are just as important as the paying players in any F2P game).
-
Simple terms they are charging you to remove what is yours from what is yours
-
Matt,no one will ever get a lvl 15 chip,even if spending the money lol. you know how much that would cost? even for lowest possible paying style. it is a unattainable item. so it being in the game is pointless.

I 100% agree with Legolas. This is absurd. The players affected are those who can't afford to put money into the game in the first place.
