No, it will not cost gems. It will only cost you credits.
It's not a very good feature to use, IMO. I believe based on what I know of random number generators that using the auto-refresh feature is likely to burn more credits over time than hitting the buttons manually. Granted, I don't know exactly how cards are "pulled" in the Tavern, but there do seem to be lucky times and unlucky times to play.
Auto-refresh in tavern will use your credits very fast. It spins until it hits a card, not how many credits you can afford to spend. It stops when credits are gone or hits a card, whichever comes first. I accidently hit it one day, was a lesson. LOL I limit my spinning to how much i care to spend, how luck is running or how many spirits i'm trying to get. Auto-refresh is not condusive to that.
As long as you watch your credits and stop it when they get down to where you want to stop it will work the same as manually clicking. It is just a way to have to click every time until you get a purple or gold.
I don't get spirits when i am offline and gold or purple hero appears in tavern, is this a normal bug that tynon is going to fix or should i report it through billing desk ?
You only get spirits if you spend credits to refresh. Cards that show up from auto refreshes due to timers expiring aren't meant to give you spirit.
Have to spend to earn.
I don't agree... you get spirits every time it hits a purple or gold hero card. However, i do believe you have to be online. If logged off i don't think it works. As far as i know, the only thing we earn offline is stamina. If that card is there when you log in, i think you still get the flashing tavern.
You do get the flashing tavern, but it does not award spirits. The only time you get spirits is when you actually spend credits for a refresh as Kruize stated. Seen it many many times.Quote:

When the spinning stops just click on any card since the result is already determined. It is useless to spend any time trying to decide what card to click on.
