Patch Preview: New Heroes, New Skills, and a Grand Tournament!

Greetings!

We've been working hard on Tynon since its release and have so far made a number of huge improvements and additions to the game since its launch. These include: Heaven Palace, Ragnarok, The Corrupted Grasslands high level zone, and much more! We've also collected your feedback on a number of game changes, including Hero Naming and Cross-Realm events. We truly want you to be a part of shaping the world of Tynon, not just by playing but by being a part of the development process as well.

We hope it goes without saying that the world of Tynon will never be done. We're continuing to work on making it more fun and engaging, with new activities, new ways to play, and new ways to customize your experience!

We wanted to take this time to let you know about some of the improvements we're planning for Tynon, which will be released within the next few weeks.

Championship Warfare

This grand tournament will pit the greatest players head-to-head in a competition to see who is the strongest. This will be our first ever cross-server event, in which players from every server can compete against one another. You might be the toughest on your server, but are you the toughest in all of Tynon? It's time to find out.

• The top 512 players from all servers will be invited to compete in Championship Warfare
• The event will last 3 days, with multiple knockout rounds to winnow the competition
• All battles will be at least the best of 3, with opportunities to change your formation between rounds
• Once the field has been narrowed, battles will become longer, moving to best of 5, all the way up to best of 9
• When the field is reduced to 2 players, they will go head-to-head in the best of 11 finals to determine who will be champion of Tynon!
• Even if you don't make the tournament or you're eliminated, you can still watch and place bets on the participants to win prizes!

Hero Improvements

Your heroes are cool now, but wouldn't it be nice if there were more skills available or more heroes? What about both? We've got you covered:

• New ways to acquire heroes without relying on luck in the Tavern
• Brand new heroes with unique graphics and killer looks
• Brand new skills and abilities that look awesome and deal wicked damage
• Available upgrades for some old school abilities to new and improved versions

These are a just a couple of the improvements heading your way, and we're just getting started! We hope you're as excited as we are, and thanks for playing Tynon!

Don't mind me ask this question dawn, but could you please let us know how many are few weeks considered as?

As for the cross server "King of Tynon" event, I'm fairly certain the crown will go to someone from servers 1-9 rather than 10+, so it's less interesting to me. It really is a shame that those servers are so different from the 10+ servers, due to the distinct imbalances between the way these server groups play.

Thank you for the update Dawn! Makes me rally ;).

For the Championship Warfare, I hope that a few things happen:
1. All who are competing get interesting rewards that make it worth competing for. More like WB events, less like Ragnarok.
2. The Bets!!!! I think this sounds really interesting! I hope this system works really well, and again, proves to offer worthwhile rewards because it sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
3. That it will occur at a time that will be convenient for people with jobs.

Hero Improvements:
— I'd love to see a hero skill tree that builds upon the existing abilities of heroes. I know that saintings do this to an extent, but they're random. I could see Saffron with a skill path that allows options to make her shield other players, deflect a % of damage back to attackers, or block AoE attacks made from her row. Or BloodStorm gaining a chance to mimic Alexa's double hit, convert damage to hit points, or either an attack that has a chance to do a smaller amount of damage the hero immediately behind and beside the target. This would mean that it would be a much more interesting battle outcome, and people would make hard choices about which tree to follow.

The skeptic in me wants to speak out, but I will let him lie still for now.

I am eagerly awaiting the new heroes and skills.
But I'm not excited at all about the new arena, seeing as it will only benefit a very small percentage of players.

And as Klepto said, someone from server 1-10 will win it, as having all Guild Cities in their possession gives an unfair advantage over someone from server 11+. Server 5 is the strongest in my opinion.

Sorry for the delay in responding everyone. I know you have all been waiting with baited breath for me to respond to this thread. Fortunately boroeast gave me some free time to think about the proper response.

Thank You Dawn for telling us something finally. I know you are super super busy and finding 5-10 mins to update the paying and non paying customers who support tynon and give you a job is tough to do.

Yes, and we all do appreciate the added content. We may not all appreciate it the same. Some like ragnarok more then others. This is exactly what many have been asking for for ages. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Thsi is exactly what is needed to allow us to progress at a better pace through quests and HR. It will also spice things up a great deal in PvP. This may actually keep me playing this game. However other may not feel this change is enough to alleviate the boredom. I for one will give it the benefit of the doubt and wait for these new heroes and skills.

Right there, that statement embodies my hopes for this game. It's reading things like this which make me so happy I joined this game. I have always believed Tynon has UNLIMITED potential, and I think many others feel that way as well. I am glad to see the Tynon team shares those feelings.

I have re read this statement over and over. I want to believe it at face value. But so far the Tynon team has failed to live up to this. Now they may actually be doing exactly this but we don't know, and that is the crux of the issue. Dawn started a thread asking on our opinions of merging the arenas and changing GWF on servers 1-10 to be like 11+ plus possible other changes to GWF. We have all posted lots and lots of opinions and given many other ideas in that thread. However Dawn has failed to really give us any feedback in that thread to let us know how much of what we said is or isn't being taken into account by the Tynon team. Communication needs to be a two way street, and if Tynon truly wants us to be involved in the development of this game, we need feedback on our feedback. The Tynon team may have decided to ignore what we posted in that thread and will change the arena and GWF however they want. Or because of that thread, they will not do what they originally planned, or have decided to put any changes to the arena and GWF on the back back burner and focus on other concepts first. But since we get no feedback from Dawn or any other member of the Tynon team, we just don't know. And without that feedback, Dawns statement seems hollow to me, even though I want to believe it. When I see action based upon our feedback, I will believe it. So far the only actions I have seen taken by Tynon based upon our comments and posts in forums and on billing support are the multiple changes to Pirates, and the fact Dawn has stated they will be changing Valla's appearance due to all the negative feedback they have received. So I do think the Tynon team is trying to listen to us. But we want more feedback from them especially when we are asked for our opinions.

The Tynon team is going to attempt a cross server event. This sounds like a massive undertaking. So Kudos to the team for being this ambitious. However, I am really confused. I don't think I have seen anyone ask for something like this any where. SO instead of working on things we have been asking for or addressing bugs and glitches (ie GWF and power display), the Tynon team will be giving us this idea.

well since our input is welcomed and we are meant to be part of the development of this game let me be the first to say,
This is possibly the worst idea I have seen yet. Possibly worst then changing GWF of server 1-10 and merging the arenas.
Here is why.

First off Specwar of server 1 or Coldlunar of server 2 will be the ultimate winner. They have everyone beat by about 6m+power. This will all boil down to servers 1-10. Newer servers do not stand a chance against servers 1-10 so why should they even get involved? SO all this effort is going into this for what? A 3 day event that happens once. I would hope that if this idea does come to fruition that it happens monthly or something so its not all done for a one shot deal. Because if it is a one shot deal I would rather have the team focusing on totally different things. Also trying to make it so cross server war fare is convenient to all the time zones may not even be possible, so will it be true cross server warfare if some people who could do well in this event cant even participate due to the timing? If they pick a time that both specwar and coldlunar could not participate, how would that show you how you measure up when you cant fight against the 2 strongest players there is? Or if Specwar is unavailable and Coldlunar is? How does that let Coldlunar really see how he measures up?

While I think this event could be fun, I would really rather find out the team is working on issue such as bugs, glitches and heroes rather than some massive new feature.

Letting people place bets on the out comes is gambling and I am extremely concerned that this will allow for players to throw battles to let people win bigger in bets. I am thoroughly against this idea. If you want to let us gamble, could we just get a simple slot machine mini-game that we can play while we are bored waiting for cool downs.


Overall I am glad Dawn finally posted an update. I would love to see this continue. It would be wonderful for this to become a weekly or every other week thing, for Dawn to give us an update. I think that would go very far and help placate many people's fears and concerns over game issues

I put my bet on Yue of server 5.

He has 4 complete Light sets. And even his Shayd has an Ironheart Spirit on it.

He "only" has 40m power, but remember, power isn't an accurate measure of capability.

Look at the rest of the server 5 top 20 and you'll see how much farther they have progressed than the other servers.

Is Shayd gonna be redesigned with an eye patch or blindfold? Lol She hits like she may be wearing them..

Dragonian is a much better strategical and tactical player than Coldlunar.

Cold only relies on brute strength.

One thing that allows players to step up against people of much greater power in the arena is the ability to tinker with formations and setups. I can beat players 1/4 stronger than I am (2-3mil power) in the arena that I have trouble beating in the wild or in revenge. I'll be curious to see how this works out in the multi elimination tourney, where we get opportunities to tweak, but not experiment.

Also, I remain curious about how they'll work with the imbalance that someone on server 1 has compared to someone on 91. Will there be a handicap of some sort? Power ups a la WB/Rag/HP?

Execution will be everything.

I've seen someone ask for something like this cross-server arena thing once or twice, but nobody really paid the idea much attention except perhaps the tynon team. Can't wait to see this success (or blunder) come late Novemberish.

good news, but i also wonder wich time frame is in order for this :p

sounds great but please tell us ur going to fix a few of the bugs still hanging around in existing areas of game.. like the joint realm for ignis/mud/widow... and the error message we get constently when fighting widow to name one or two of the most annoying ones... but new heros is a must imo as game is getting stale and i know a few of the big players are bored stiff with game as it stands at moment..

All this "So and so will win" and "power isnt everything" is detracting from discussing the good and bad of what dawn has presented,and the fact that theres still lack of information form the Tynon team. In fact this entire cross server championship announcement was probably meant to distract us. So How about we argue who is best in another thread, and leave this one for commenting on the actual post etc. And I also suggest we say firm in our requests for more information from the tynon team, especially concerning bug fixes.

I, for one, will reserve judgement on the championship until i see it. Think it sounds very interesting and can't wait to get it. As for the heroes ~ any eta? Just wish there was ever a clue to time.

I share the same sentiments as you regarding the championship.

From a logical viewpoint it doesn't seem possible or fair. Taking the top players from each server, how can it be justifiable for someone of 40m power fighting someone of 5m power, both of which are their server's respective top players.

When put like that, it raises a good point. Maybe instead of a cross server event, splitting it up slightly inline with server age.

The way i read that is the top players from all servers, not the top from each server .... so it would be top players regardless of server. When you do a "king of the hill"/"best of the best" type contest it can't be watered down with handicaps and boosts or it is not a true test of strength and ability, that makes it just who can boost the highest and gives advantage to power level. Hope they don't do that. Actually, if both players boost the same it is still even, but Tynon makes the money off the boosts, so leave it alone. Love the watching and betting aspect!! That's great fun.

The only other question i have is does this take place of the ideas of a server GW??

In golf they assign handicaps to players to even out the playing field. I have also played in bowling tournaments where this was done too. I think that that type of concept would work here too.

If you used handicaps to equalize the entire playing field you would not accomplish the battles in 3 days. So in that scenario every player would have to battle every player in Rag style to see who gets into the top 150 (whatever amt they said) to then move forward on determining the top 150 of all servers. Of course not all would join, but a significant amt would. In tennis they have top seeds to cut down on the # of matches needed. Guess you can compare stats, games, sports, whatever forever if you look for it.

I just think the whole cross server thing is a bad idea, mainly because it is so complicated, is open to cheating, and detracts from fixing glitches and bugs that we have been reporting for weeks and months. And takes away the focus of getting what we all want most of all, the new heroes and abilities. I am glad to see that I am not the only person questioning the sanity and immenseness of this announcement. ANd I hope Dawns statement about wanting to involve us in the development of this game extends to listening to these concerns about this event, and that it may lead to the event being back burnered for more importnat things

How about getting rid of the map at the beginning of sails. If you get hiot right away you dont have time to ollect rewards due to lag

We are listening to all feedback and we've even taken some suggestions and implemented it in the game. An example of this would be the change to the Baal/Cerb finale because the biggest players would get the last hit every time. Another example is changing Pirates so that players get half the rewards on sailing and half on completion. We do listen, and we've proven it time and again.

That said, its important to note a couple things:

• While we listen to feedback and definitely take it into account, we are not putting players as our development lead. Our developers have some very awesome ideas about where this game is heading and that means doing things players haven't asked for and maybe haven't even thought of. We want player feedback and insight on what we're doing, but that doesn't mean we'll fulfill every player.s deepest wish. That would not be any way to run a game.
• No one on the forums speaks for any other players. No one represents a group of players. Each person speaks for him or herself. Wording things as if you are a group does not get us anywhere. If your entire guild feels a certain way, then each player in the guild should post their feelings individually, so we can get a real picture of what different players are thinking. If someone doesn't want to use the forums, that is fine, there are plenty of people that disagree with that person who also aren't using the forums. The forums are just a sampling.

We're not able to give ETAs on projects. This is for 2 reasons:

First, if we give an ETA and we miss, many people will encircle the castle with pitchforks and torches, calling for our heads. We've seen it before and we don't want to make players angry when we could avoid it.

Second (and more importantly), we use the Agile Method of development which means that based on judgment calls by our developer, things can be completed in a very big hurry during a Sprint. Something that might take another company weeks or months, we can do in days with a Sprint. There might be no movement on other projects while that happens, so we have to always be refreshing our priorities to make sure things don't fall through the cracks.

One way to think of the Agile method compared to traditional methods is the way Habitat for Humanity builds houses compared to traditional home builders. A normal home builder will have hundreds of employees and contractors building dozens of homes at once and each home takes weeks or months to complete. Habitat has all their volunteers for a specific project on a single job site and as a result the home goes up in days or even hours.

This is far more efficient because it means we can be more responsive, and get new features out quickly, but it also means we have to be very careful about ETAs because the development director doesn't know exactly when he'll have the people free to Sprint and might not decide to Sprint a specific feature until the resources actually become available. Being Agile means not making short-term promises on time frame, but it also means regular updates and improvements, which you've already seen with dozens of patches since the game launched just a few months ago.

Turning over development of this game to me or any of us would be hilarious and dangerous. We really just like to know we are being heard. And as of late it sure doesn't feel that way, especially with the other thread that was started about GWF and arena changes. It was sad that so many of us had to " act up" on Sunday night to finally get a response form the Tynon team about our concerns. I think basically what we want is the occasional and semi regular response to our concerns.

A good example is the power display glitch. How many different threads have been started on this? Many. Many of us know its a display glitch when you craft a new item and if you refresh it fixes it self. And even if youdont refresh if you go into battle you will see the correct power level. And most of us know it really doesn't effect anything. But the only response is to say it doesnt matter, power is just a measurement go into battle, this does not effect the game. When all we ant to see is, This is a known issue and we are addressing it in a future patch, it really does not effect the out come of battles. But we know about it and are planning to fix it in an upcoming patch.

So just a little more consistent feedback from the Tynon team would be seriously welcomed.

Your behavior on Sunday had nothing to do with my post. I did not even see it as I was not around at that time, but I'm quite sure the mods do not appreciate the rules of the forum being violated, and neither do I. Nor will it be tolerated.

The development team has been working on these features and decided they were ready to be announced last weekend, so I made the post on Monday when I got in.

As for your feedback not being considered, it seems to me that no matter how much we solicit and collect feedback, some will not be convinced that we are listening. It doesn't seem to matter that I made a thread specifically asking for player feedback about several concepts, we were deemed to "not be listening" because I didn't run a commentary on feedback that was posted.

Feedback threads are very simple, and I'll post this in future feedback threads.

We post about some ideas or concepts that we're implementing or considering. Players offer their comments. Multiple developers, who do not post on the forums, browse the thread at their leisure to get a feel for potential issues or concerns that may arise from the development. They make decisions accordingly. I intentionally do not get involved in the discussion because I don't want to become an "Ask Dawnseeker" thread or for people to address other concerns to me simply because they believe they have my attention.

I can only state this so many times in so many ways: Multiple developers read the feedback threads, and they don't want to see my opinions. They want to see your opinions.

The other factor here is that too much input from a Tynon employee can actually skew player responses. I do appreciate when you're able to give us insight into what's going on and offer us updates/news/data, but I realize that when gathering opinions that it's important for "authority figures" to remain disconnected so as not to subconsciously push responders in one direction or another.
