Very simply explained. You have a set number of rounds in which to defeat the boss, if I remember rightly about 30. If you don't manage to beat it, then it's marked up as a loss, even if you have a full team.

You have enough defense if you were to slightly increase attack I would see you through the fight under the round cap.
How is one on Scipio and not aware of round caps?
