Yep, this is what this forum would be if they would let people trade their stuff.
Make the game more interesting and competitive.

hell no
what makes this game so enjoyable is that its without all that painfull drama and 95% of the drama is based on trades and butthurt 12 year olds or exploiters who try to "sell" cheap/free stuff to their alt accounts
Even if not trade with other players, sellback should be an option. Mounts for example, once you get your next one, you don't go back - so why not sell back that bear or rhino for the smaller players that are just now getting up to the title they can get one??!! Of course they have been gone since they were made to benefit us!! The bears went the first day, the others all gone now, only 3 per realm is not enough since there is NO way for anyone to EVER get one now. What motivation is it for the poor smaller players?? I don't know, but the Dev's have odd ways of showing they want people to stay and play. And don't give me the "rare" excuse, because to me, since it's tied to title like heroes, you should have an opportunity to get one without spending an obscene amt of gems.
Then there are all the other stuff we collect along the way..
trading will allow people to get more engaged into the game.
there is drama regardless of trading.
creating an economic system is key to longevity.
No the way you describe it. It would only add to the rampant cheating with alts.
Maybe an in-game mechanic were you can trade materials at a 5 to 1 rate? Tynon wins by gaining more than they give and players can trade unwanted materials clogging inventory space to materials they can use immediately.
all games have alts. I don't think there is one game where people do not have alts. In WOW I had an alt follow my main to duo instances, Everquest i had a powerful healer alt to heal my main, in Diablo I had alts galore, goes on and on.
Alt is not the issue.
Trading increases the game fun factor and gets players more engaged. It is what can make a game "more addictive".
Having an alt can go both ways so at the end it all balances out.
But being able to trade has more positive than negative.
I'd love to sell my blue stars to people who are struggling and have been struggling for many months.
Sell hard to get plans like relic plans, etc.
Once item is crafted it can become account bound. The possibility is endless on how it can be implemented.
But one thing for sure, there would be a lot of people on the trading forum. :)
Sorry Riot but if all other servers have the same issue, (looking through these forums suggest they do), of alts decimating game play, then a player trade option will allow those that do abuse the game mechanics with alts to abuse it even more. The only positives you mention will be short term positives and eventually the game will be over run with rotten apples.
If Tynon controlled the trade as in player A trades to Tynon, player B trades from Tynon, then i can see trade being an option in the future but player to player trade should never be implemented until the alt issue is seriously addressed.
I see your point Drey. However, I am winning to bet that trading will also make people with powerful mains get more powerful since you would have to spend gems or money to buy more gems to trade others. I am not sure people with a lot of alts would want to spend all the money on alt accounts. If the mains get stronger, maybe alts won't make as much of an impact.
People who invest in their main account would most likely be the people who spend gems to trade from other players of anything that is of high value. I can see the low level stuff being sold to alts.
I just think that by having trading it would give people more choices and control as well as more fun.
I used to play a game that encouraged alts and had the economic system you are describing. It was great since there was no way to abuse the alts (except some people botting, but that was heavily combatted). There was no huge daily bonuses that made it so alts gave you an advantage earning money; they were just to try a variety of classes and combinations.
I think before any trading idea is implemented, other large changes need to be made. Also with system wide trade, you could start off on a new server with the best gears if you ever wanted to switch servers...
Maybe off topic, But since server merges are no longer ongoing, how about a move to server for X=gems. This would get rid of the stag servers with no players. I could join a server thats thriving and spend my money there with people my power level.. And if you wanna move more than once then double the gems for the move etc.. etc.. Then maybe we could have a server full of coiners and ofcourse everyone else would soon follow (win win for tynon)
Big no to this. I am having enough trouble keeping up and catching up to players who got the half mil rep boost two weeks before I came on. The last thing I want or need are new coiners coming over to my server and taking what little I have by taking over the arena, sinking my sails, setting up guilds and taking our cities. I don't want big players molesting my toons when they are grinding gear. Nope to server switching unless it is to sort us by power and levels.
I assure you, no one will molest your toons :)
The server hopping allows people to go where they please and this works both ways. You can also go to a less populated server if you so choose to. The freedom to move around has very big benefits such as friends who can co-exist without starting a new character from the beginning and ability to go where help may be needed by a guild leader who dominates a realm with alts and go to other servers to shut up a few irritating people :)
i still dont think that trading in any form should be introduced to the game and i dont think tynon even got the staff for it.
well this is agreeable and disturbing in several ways. first of all you guys need to stop telling everyone that you are running multiple accounts. then i think that we had enough of the "catching up" and need some new game content right now but since dawn was kicked, no one else tynon affiliated is reading this anyways.
then, the server switching idea i think is a great idea, however there should be restrictions and it should be really expensive to do so. thats for several reasons:
first off, it should be avoided at all times that advanced players join younger servers (put the last 20 servers on lockdown), then the most populated server should be closed as well to prevent over population. the staff needs to be stocked up on GM's, CSR and other staff parts, whats gonna happen to your VIP status, ... those are just a few reasons that pop into my head right away.
bottom line its a bad idea to introduce trading and server switches to this game and additionally even if we find enough to support this idea and somehow being able to force it onto the tynon GM's then there would be still the question
"why do it?" (unless its to go to a different timezone because you for example moved from the states to europe, but how often is that gonna happen...)
sry, this is just a flash game, the topic itself has been denied many times on this forum, let alone the "idea". i also think its going too far for a flashgame.
ps@riot: bored much?
I used to play a game, can not remember what it was but it was a Facebook game, that allowed gifting, not trading, of some items but only to 'lower level' players in the same guild. That to prevented farming alts since alts are almost always of 'lower level' and therefore could not gift the items to the 'higher level' player.
Will never happen in a million years. Tynon/Evony Developers do not want any trading of anything going on. They want to make sure they are in control 100% of everything and that no items or accounts are ever sold because in theory the money would be going to someone else and not them. Common sense would tell us that anyone that bought an account would probably also be spending money while they own it, but the developers that police accounts in their games don't really understand that, it's all money and trading is done through us or not done at all philosophy for them It can be summed up in one word... Greed.
Wrong.
Selling items isn't something that will be introduced because it'll encourage even more alts. As for buying accounts if you did buy one off another player that'll be against the ToS and could up end up being an expensive folly-I've seen uCool ban accounts for that. It's not about greed it's about stopping cheating.
Incidentally like all software you don't own your account that remains property of uCool. You get the privilege of using it and buying power ups but it's never actually is yours.
I don't think Moonshadeaux directly accused anyone cheating. He did however voice what a lot of people already know, you just have to read a few hundred closed threads on the forums to see. You would have to be naive to not acknowledge the rampant cheating.
It helps a lot to be at the top of the game if you have a handful of alts to farm, swap maps with, ect. We see it daily on our server and it is even spoken about in world chat as an every day occurrence.
Alts will not stop overnight and while this topic is not about alts it's about the ability of alts abusing any type of trade system.
If there is to be some sort of trade then Tynon needs to have 100% control.
turn the tynon forums into something like the d2jsp forums (trading site for diablo and a bunch of other games) would be pretty frickin awesome. There's ways to make it where people cant farm gems from alts. By linking everyones gem total to there forum profile, and have a option to send the gems to the other persons account through the forum. Also have a option in game to send an item to a inventory in your forum profile which has a
"trade chest"(call it what ever you like I just mean like a small inventory like 5 or 8 slots to trade multiple items in some cases) you can send items in or out to your character. Then have option both players click to enter a trading sequence where one enters the amount of gems there paying, and the other puts the items in then both have to click "accept". Then add an ip address restriction to the trading forums so you cant trade gems to accounts that have EVER been logged in on the same ip address. Also make it to where if someone has had many reports to be a multi, in the trading post, and the tynon team comes to the conclusion they are after going under review, or the system catchs a single ip address attempting the trade sequence its punishable by banned IP's and deleted accounts. I know this would take some work from the tynon staff and I know im a nobody on the forums ive read through many times but this was the 1st thing to make me wanna post. But I think this idea could be a HUGE success for players AND the tynon staff. skys the limit if they go about it the right way. more players would get involved into the game more people would buy gems because they see a good trade they want. If you wanted it to it could even benefit for people who have alts because there young and cant spend money or whatever there reason by making it to where you can sell coins or credits at a fixed rate of gems (xx gems per bil coins or creds) and a cap of how many they can sell a month. Alts may be cheating but if they take the time to farm 8bil coins for a few hundred gems they earned it in my opinion. you could have a trading post forum for each server or make it all tynon world wide either way would be cool. I could go on and on with ideas for this but ill shut up now :)
-edit
btw I understand alts are cheating and piss people off dont blame ya. to me it just sounds exhausting lol. I was just stating the possabilities are endless
This always amuses me for Evony and Tynon. If someone spends lets just say 3,000 to 5,000 on an account. Then they decide they don't want to play anymore. What do you think that person is going to do with that account. Log out and take their 3 to 5k financial hit or try to sell it and get a fraction back of what they put it to a player eager to use their account and have fun with it. Accounts are bought and sold on Evony 24/7. If people didn't buy, sell, and trade them, then evony would have about 10 players per server instead of hundreds. So I will disagree respectfully of course, but it comes down to them not wanting anything to be traded or sold because nobody is to make money on their games unless it is them. Yes, they ban players for selling stuff, however they ban maybe 2% of people, so if you ban 1 you need to ban all, but that can't happen or they would make no money. So in short, this game is run mafia style... no trading without their say so and they are free to ban anyone for any reason or no reason at all. I don't see this ever changing on Evony or Tynon. One day the developers will learn that when accounts for example are sold, the person that buys usually ends up continuing to spend money on that account so they would just be making more money. Food for thought.
It doesn't have anything to do with alts/cheating, if alts are what they wanted to remove then they would restrict logins via ip address to limit people to 1 to 3 household accounts or whatever. It's all about the $$$.
Doesn't matter if there will be 10 people if accounts weren't buying/selling it's in the ToS, therefore illegal. Let me explain; you don't rent a car, run about in it topping up the fuel then to recoup yourself financially, sell it. You know you don't own the car and selling it you'll be breaking the law. Well Tynon/Evony accounts are the virtual equivalent to rental cars. You buy gems in return to power up your account but this is the crucial bit, you never own your it and remains the property of uCool. It's in the ToS if you've bothered to read it. Incidentally, there have been cases of accounts closed when it's been discovered selling/buying has occurred. uCool also work closely with PayPal so they can easily find out too, you have been warned.
And how would it be about the $$$'s-uCool lose money over illegal account selling!
Oh since you've done your research, you would know Evony has an IP limit now. If more than 3 accounts are run at the same time all of them are suspended for a few hours. Hopefully they will introduce here in Tynon too.
Finally as an epic necro, time to close it.
