A request for Davemata

Dave, i know you're busy, but can we have our forum back?
A place where freedom of speech is encouraged.
A place where your loyal VIPs and customers are encouraged to post and engage in robust debate.
A place where censorship is gone, and alternative views are encouraged, not just one persons view on the world.
A place where your CW winners and participants are not talked down to and dismissed and edited and censured when they dare to disagree with the controllers view.
A place where more than one person makes decsions on threads.
A place where we can keep an active thread going for more than a couple days, not closed on a whim.


We have (largely) been patient for new content, but if we cant have a place where these things exist, and discuss in game matters, then it is indeed a sad day for your customers.

Davemata doesn't look at these forums anymore and I personally have sent him numerous requests in the Evony forums to get him or some other representative here. I never got any replies from him yet he would constantly talk in the Evony forums 24/7, so I figured that he must have got my numerous requests but just never showed any initiative to reply back. :(

Oh and about the rest of your posts, why can't you yourself bring up some debate to have with others? We can already talk freely as we wish but if don't comply with forum rules it gets 'moderated'! Day in and day out people here all the time give their alternative views, although I'm not so sure what you're on about regarding censorship :confused: ! I got no comment regarding your issue about CW winners. People all the time again make decisions on threads, numerous time in past patches have we had our ideas implemented into the game (none of mine yet :rolleyes: ). Lastly, the only reason threads are closed is because a bunch of people here (no names mentioned) don't know how to have civilized discussions where we can all suggest and debate our alternative views in peace.

I'm afraid this being a privately owned forum, freedom of speech is only allowed as far as the forum rules allow. It's my job as it's Andy's and Jupitor's to uphold those forum rules and stop any misconduct from taking place. Acting inappropriately will cause any one of us to take action against the poster concerned.

This is a free forum for all not just VIP's. Spending money does not give you special privileges, everyone is treated the same.

No one is censoring anyone. In fact many people's views are allowed and encouraged. However, if anyone decides to instigate, troll or insult any other member of this forum, it's not something I will overlook. Those posts will be deleted, threads closed or if necessary further action taken.

CW as VIP's are treated equally. They, like anyone else need to follow the rules. Something everyone must remember.

why is there so many people who are mistaken the "right on freedom of speech" for the "power to say anything"?
i.e. freedom of speech means you can state your opinion within certain laws and restrictions. you can stand on the market place and scream your head off that all planes from a certain airline should get bombed but can not say this at an airport. or you have thr right to say that america sucks and everyone should burn a USA flag but you are not allowed to actually burn a flag in public even if it would "only" emphasize your point you are making.

on a forum it is different though. this forum is hosted by the game makers. there is no interest in them for you to say on this forum anything you like. just like they are restricting this forum to age 12+ users and have 8+ PG forum rules for a 14+ game.

forum moderators are volunteers, if you want to find a place to complain about them or give them crap then start a blog on your own website that you host. let me know where it is and i promise you i will read it once in a while and disagree with you to keep the argument going

Jupitor quit. He quit long ago being a mod, and has quit the game. That leaves you and Andy. Andy replies respectfully, and is helpful. I don't see him get personal, or into arguments with other players.
I must agree with Emily that sometimes you do take things personally, and remove, edit, close.... for reasons other than forum rules. Absolutely. And even those rules are left up to your interpretation of them.
Just lighten up, everyone. Dave Mata is not here, no one is moderating the moderators, or minding the forum, (from Tynon).

Not really people tend to personal with me because I edit, close or delete things, so naturally I'm going to remove the insulting remarks. Andy for reasons of his own can't be here very much so I have to most of the moderating and therefore I get most of the flak.

Dave knows what I'm doing and is perfectly happy with it, so leave it at that.

The forum rules were set by Dawnseeker and agreed by uCool staff. They aren't going to change and are pretty standard to all forums. It's very simple really, follow them or if you choose not suffer the consequences.
