Occasionally people change realms to either complete the Arena quests (defeat XX amount of people in the arena) or to chase certain rewards from the arena such as Leader Cards or the coveted 1,000 Gems stakes.

Often time people are not able to complete the arena quests in their own realms since the Arena does NOT reset everyone once a week it's hard to be rank 2 and not be able to start over to complete a quest of defeat 300 people in the arena since you can't travel backwards. Don't get me wrong there are ways to do this such as removing all your heroes from formation, removing your armor and runes and just letting everyone defeat you to throw you back to the bottom but this doesn't always work the way we want it to.

So yeah like Johndew mentioned this person probably changed realms and then ran up the arena chain to be rank 2.
