Perpetually losing half map in Caribbean Pirates

My issue is I obtain half a map around midnight when I invest, and claim guild benefits - and if I don't use it immediately, I lose it within 8 hours.

This has been happening regularly. I am not on board a boat therefore I'm not being attacked and having it stolen. Often times, I go to bed planning on using it when I wake up after most of the high level players have gone off to bed themselves.

How and why is this happening?
