and Fantasy as in elfs and creatures, not tanks, ranks and other perversions of everyday life.
It's the american way and I find it odd to use on the European server.
Speaking from a fantasy aspect why wouldn't this particular Fantasy land have a servitude ranking system? In all books I have read along the lines of fantasy that have had some type of military line there has always been a "Commander" or a "General". Granted I've never read where they had every rank from Private on up but there has been some kind of military ranking system.
Have you read any good fantasy books lately? I'm rereading Brisingr right now and even in there is a ranking system to their military the "Varden"

I quite like the ranks system.. You don't have to be a genius to work it out as it's relative to real life, I personally think it works just as it is. And like has been pointed out, it''s fantasy, it can be just about anything people want. You could always make up ranks in your mind and replace the defalt ones with your own fantasy?

Alright fine.
Its a strong personal preference.
I also get annoyed by reading it when I read fantasy.
Explain to me how the last 4 ranks that are used as military ranks around the world are not only american specific but army specific? Last I recalled our Marines, Navy and Air Force all had LTC, COL and GEN as ranks, not just the army. Now the 2-4 ranks are army ranks, but that's besides the point. Also why does it matter? I'm pretty sure that tynon is based out of a location in the US, but offer servers in different regions to help reduce latency issues to make the game more enjoyable. Just cause one person finds it silly doesn't mean they're going to recode text in their game.
