Runes are all about luck, but...
1) Kill cerber for 10,000k , exchange fragments for Bane -> kill cerber better.
2) Farm other players -> spend money for runes.
3) Exchange 10 gems for 1,500k-1,900k coins in Fair
4) Keep cheking your arena from time to time to get 10 / 100 / 1000 gems bonuses.
5) Research physical dmg as often as you can, use 5 physical heroes.
To be really succesfull player i have done special strategy - first upgrade your hero to lvl 30, then stop and do not gain any more experience. Fight other players for about 7 days, get their coins and credits, use coins for Runes and Credits for getting gem-stones at Fair. Play Labyrinth but do not finish it - abandon it, head for 3 treasure chests to get free bonuses and 2 diamond zones to get discounts (stars are good choise to upgrade heroes later). After you will farm first Bane rune - upgrade it to lvl 7, head for Pure Dmg Build. Use credits to buy purple heroes - Cianna for stun, Calvin for morale burn, Saffon for tanking, Alexa for damage dealing. There is plenty players of 27-35 lvl with power around 20-50k, i was staying at 30 lvl untill my power grow to 250000, then i moved on toward 40 lvl, now i am preparing my item sets and runes. Do not upgrade your rank - if you will be "Private" even at 80 lvl - other players of lvl 23-30 will attempt to kill you - and thats good for you to have lots of revenges, cus Corporal and Sergeant ranks will scare them off. I have rank Master Chief - noone attacking me at all. Also do not ride horse when you searching for players to attack you for later revenge.
There is no point to rush trough levels like 99% players do, i have started 1 week later then others and now i am 630k power at level 41, while others have like 300-400k max at this lvl, i am able to kill 52 lvl players without losing single hero, yet i also can kill 38-40 and there is still many of them around. Also - if you seening that drop in rune temple is bad - keep money for later, i have found that if you see its unlucky drop - better to wait few hours, cus it looks like drop changes on its own, like heroes in tavern do. Sometimes drop rate is much higher for fragments and yellow runes. I do remember getting like 19 fragments in a one day, got them all almost during one hour, spent not too much, like 30 millions or so. -> and again - farm players non stop.
