In Guild Wars if a member joins but can not make it to the war what happens?

What happens that members that have joined guild wars but are unable to to actually attend the war? Some one told me that they are set to defend A if it is an attack or to defend G if being attacked. Is that correct?

Don't sound right to me, why would they even be defending or attacking if they not online to make it? The people who don't make it to GW are simply not added into the battle equations. No idea who gave you the idea that offline people are automatically set to defend or attack.

It was some in the Realm chat that said that was the way it worked in the bets, but it did not sound right to me either. That is why I am asking.

well they stay at the first spot i been in guild wars that's were they are at the time... i have no idea other then that anyway they maybe online just siting their but anyway i have no idea about that sorry if this does not help you
