PvP gem question

Hello, first time posting here (:

As for my question, I was able to win the 1,000 gem prize from someone but only receive 500 of the said 1,000.

Is this a bug, or by winning it from someone else does it automatically cut the gem winnings down by 50%?

Edit: Got my answer, and I feel stupid for not thinking about it, thanks Tynon Support for the quick reply.

The arena stakes will be shared by you and the original owner of the stake, so you will only receive half of the gems.
