    How to cross in Pirates

I have played this game since beta.

I have read all the posts in forums about pirates being broken or needing changed.

I am here to say NO IT DOES NOT NEED CHANGED.

What needs changed is people's attitudes about it.

    Heres how it works

if half you guild got lefts and half got rights, and this happened server wide, then everyone would be able to cross 1 time. This is assuming no one attacks no one

But you have 3 shots per day. (maybe more if they ever figure out that level 5 city buff)

And who wouldn't want to get across 3 times? I love it when I make it 3 times in a day. But once is good, and even when i don't make it all - that is the game.

Here is the secret, if no one gets in boats or no one is trying but the BIG players, then no one will get across ever - except the biggest players

Most of the time 75% of the guild gets the same side of the map. SO someone needs to steal a map from someone else to get to sail.\

If we were all playing pirates more then more people regardless of size will get across everyday. By saying the game is broke or its unfair - or its a waste of time, you are actually amking it harder for EVERYONE to cross.

I steal 4-15 maps a day. Then I let them get stolen from the docks
Why do I let want my maps get stolen?
    Simple!!!
After the people strong enough to sink me make 3 trips they cant sink me any more
SO the more of them I give away, the more likely I will cross when I try.
Also I get hit by people sometimes that lose - so that gives me more revenges.

Now of course this leads to others losing maps and not making it across. But that is the game. If you don't play it you will never cross. YOu have to steal maps give them away and repeat as often as you can.

You will also start seeing when people are online the most and when the big players are on etc, and find the best times to try and cross. Im not going to try and tell you when the best times are to cross. Its different for every server. And even though there are times that could apply to every server, I dont want to tell you everything, part of the fun is figuring it out yourself.

Most of my guild - even players well below 1m power get across at least 5 times a week. Many of us make it 10 times or more a week and a few of us make it 15+ times a week.

Give away maps, pay attention for the best times to cross, work with your guild to pair players up that have a better chance.

AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE NAVAL LOG. It will tell you who has maps and cant attack you right now.

STOP COMPLAINING THAT IT NEEDS CHANGED. I would think that most players who think pirates is broke, not fair, needs changed, etc would be very happy to make it once a day. If you want to do that play pirates MORE,MORE,MORE- and by play I don't mean get sunk 3 times, try not to get sunk by giving away maps to eliminate the number of people who can sink you, because they either have a map already from you or are out of trips thanks to you. The more people who do this will make it easier for EVERYONE to get across at least once.

Thank you for your heartfelt and passionate document.
I might even join in your support, but for one item: map availability. Each player can only have one per day. If we could somehow earn more, not stealing from the small kids (junior accounts) that we've tricked into playing the game, perhaps it would be better.
It's a pyramid scheme and when the supporting levels of the pyramid dry up and no longer contribute, the upper levels cannot maintain the scheme.
    Just my observations and feelings.

I do think that having a way to EARN more maps would be a nice addition to the system, but I doubt that will happen.

The point of this post is this. Yes some people will not get to sail every day. But it doesnt have to be the same people the more people who try the more will get across

Hmph... reminds me of ants trying to cross a stream

I can't say that I back this 100%, but it does foster a positive attitude, and that may do well enough. Nice post, OP.

I get your point Mattp169. Still i dont sail, and i see very few "low power" even try. I dont have a low alt to steal from, and i wont just feed the higher lvl/power. So i dont sail.

I finally made it on my 23rd try... I had to wait until after 3AM, and I was pleasantly surprised to find one of my guildies online. My power is just under 400K now. I tried earlier, before 10PM and immediately got jumped like I was in the hood. I think that proves it's broken - the only way for regular humans to succeed in this is to be awake between 3 and 4 AM, when all the greedy players are sleeping. Please do something... any small thing. Really.

I made it a couple times when I was fairly weak, of course all the big players had their eyes on another event whenever I did make it.

I enjoy it the way it is. Could have several lvls for diff Power lvl players. But until that happens I just wear a life preserver and notify the Coast Guard that I am sailing.

Made it the other night. Had 6 (SIX) fights lined up and we defended ourselves well. HOWEVER, I still am 98% against the mini-game. I've allowed many of my unused maps to gather dust. Let them expire, I'll NOT feed a power hitter if I can avoid it. Shoot, they don't need the crossing, and are only hitting smaller folks to feed their ego. Meanwhile, if we've missed GW or didn't have a fight, we lose out on the 5 gem bonus.
    Just my observations.
