So I go to upgrade the stars on my 6 star Alexa. When I hit upgrade it shows the success rate drop to 14% and a 7th star added, but no system message. When I close the window and reopen it my Alexa is down to 4 stars.

Ya happened to me on 3 different heros I sent an email but no response I would like an explanation please , it shows a success and the star is added to the bar but then a few moments later its gone and I loose another star so I start with five stars and get six and the power up and then I drop back to 4 stars...wth is going on ?
I did use gems to do it so now I am out like 500 gems or more to this "bug" I am a high lvl VIP but if i cant upgrade my heros stars then it maybe time to shut down the money train to Tynon....
When you fail on 6 stars, you will lose 2. The ? on the stars window explains it all.

yeah i'm not coining another dime, out of my last 15 cards 14 have either failed or it has been morale,physical, orskill attack on mage, or magic attack on physical heroes, this game is a waste of time and money I'm just addicted to gambling so I guess i'll continue to waste time playing it but with false percentages on everything it is a rip off. I will never spend another dollar on this game, but I guess they keep pulling people in considering I get a mail every 2 days saying there is a new server when tons of bugs and fixes need to be made, oh well.

I don't think you read correctly. The fact is after I clicked it showed 7 stars. The success rate dropped and a star was added, but when I closed and reopened I had 4. I already know what I lose if I fail, but it showed that I did in fact succeed.
You spam-clicked the upgrade button too fast.
The system didn't recognize most of your clicks.
Do it one at a time.
If there's no system message, it isn't a true upgrade and won't take effect.
See that would be the case if i had more than 2 blue stars in my inventory. Besides spam clicking at a 20% success rate isn't logical nor is it necessary since you can't go below 4 stars once you achieve that.
idk where to put this. i was upgrading one of my heros to lvl 2 using stars. it says 88% "you will lose 0 stars if you fail" i did fail and it took my star. it happend several hrs ago, was just to busy to find where to post it/report it. if anyone knows where, please let me know
When you are awarded 7 stars, a banner appears telling the server of your achievement. You haven't mentioned it so I think you're mistaken in believing that you got 7 stars.
The animation isn't brilliant and sometimes it looks like you won when in fact you've failed. I understand how you feel, I've failed getting my hero up to 7 stars at least 3 times.
This hasn't happened to me, when I've been at "safe" points. You don't mention how many stars you were holding at that time. I believe you are safe at 4,7,9,10.
