hidden companions

I have noticed more and more people have hidden their companions somehow and when you click on them their power is a fraction of what it really is. The space where the companions are located is blank.

that's because they want to drop down in arena rank so they can attack new players for their stakes, instead of attempting to hold their rank like it should be.

I thought that too but if you attack them showing no companions then they suddenly appear in the battle. Their power is hidden until the battle starts.

possibility is that they mave have been completely changing their heroes in formation. I often switch from a melee team to my mage team, people

catch me in the middle of this and usually don't like the result they get.
