Thread: Guild Warfare - How do we Play?

Question Guild Warfare - How do we Play?

Hi could anyone share their tips or thoughts on how it all works? I've tried looking at the threads but not a lot of clarity.
Our Guilds Level 3, we have completed twice now.
I have our Guild members asking what they should do, but not having played before I'm not sure myself.

Do we Defend our base as we're challenging another Guild? Do some of our team March or do we all March?

    Would appreciate any feedback

I hate to say it, nut there is no real one way to do GW. It all depends on who you are challenging, their power and strength, how many players show up to actually fight on each side, who is placed where by the city owners, and so on. You need to learn who your rivals are, and how they play, look at how many cities they are defending and against whom, and have a good strategist at the helm. The forums and wiki's don't have alot of info on this yet, as the game is still so new. Haven't checked YouTube to see if there is anything useful there. The Evony and similar Pvp game wikis may have better info than here. If you are just starting into guild warfare and have no experienced players on your team, it will be a bumpy ride for a while, until you learn the moves. More bodies is always a good thing, so try to encourage as many guildies to show for GW, regardless of their power of level. Keeping chatter in guild chat so no one misses and order is important, as is making sure that your players don't chat fail in realm and give away your plans to a rival. Commands given in ALL CAPS catch attention better, and answers in lower case, y (yes), n (no), ?, R3 R2 or R1 for recover rounds at base so command knows who will be able to move when, or just simple 3 2 or 1, and r (recovered). Play with it and find what works best for your players and their attention spans and personalities. Keeping track of how many kills each player gets, if any, before they are killed will help command know how many rivals are out there. And never count on it to stay the same. Players can enter late, leave early, and rivals my have a huge number join from another city they were battling in and finished. Pay attention to the world chat announcement banners. You may get a heads up that your rival has finished another battle and is about to come in force to kill you off. Lol! Not much you can do about it, 'cept brace for impact and grin.

Good luck to you, and don't worry. If you lose, you still get rewards. And if you all pay attention, you will figure out your best strategies. And have fun with it.

    Hi all,

Rather than make a new thread, I hope it is possible to continue this discussion.
Taking over cities seems rudimentary but once you are attacking and defending, I have no idea. My guild had three battles listed yesterday, not many of us online. Attack one, defend two. The first and only screen I saw when I got on was a one which had Scorch as G, a city we were supposed to defend (we won) but I was supposed to attack another city. Once the battle for Scorch was over, I got kicked from GW and couldn't go back. What I would like to know, is how we can select which city to go to and if this is not possible, how do you progress to the other cities, please? As has been noted there is very little information re: GW. Please note, I am not enquiring about strategy, merely actual gameplay, thank you for your responses.

GW is glitched. It has been for some time, sadly. We lost a city thanks to members being stuck in camps and unable to move, members being disconnected, and so on. We'll take it back, but yeah, it's frustrating. not sure if we had any members locked out like you were, but I have seen a number of complaints about command garrisoning people in one city and them "magically" appearing in another, and similar issues to yours.

Submit a ticket to billing support with as many details as you can. And be prepared to wait for days for an auto-reply saying they are aware of the glitch and are working on it. SIGH. This is my first server on this game, and GW has been glitched for me since the first one I was in. so I can't really tell how it is actually supposed to work. I just know it's not working correctly. Wish I could help you more.

Perhaps someone who has played several servers and had had Host or VH position for command can explain how it is supposed to work for all of us.

The person, Host or Vice Host, who manages GW for your Guild has the ability to determine which players will go to defend or attack each respective city based on what your Guild limitations are. For example let's say you are defending two cities your Host or Vice Host based on which guilds are attacking can decide to put all the high powered players in the city that is being attacked by a guild with high level players in the same respect they could put whatever remaining members that are participating in GW in the other city to defend/attack.

Once you complete your objective in your respective GW you are booted out because you are done. If you are defending two cities and you are in one you will not be sent to the second one to defend it as well after you win your city battle. Getting kicked out after you win is normal, when you hold multiple cities, and is not a game error.
