IMPROVEMENT IDEA: We desperately need ABILITY to SEARCH Rankings by player alpha sort

It's really hard to find player's by name in this game. Some have obscure spellings (and typos) and it would be useful to be able to locate by name search.

Perhaps let the RANKINGS list become a directory of who is playing in each world as well as rank order.
Perhaps add an option button to the PLAYERS tab to "sort by alpha" rather than by rank and give a second option to give it a wild card regular expression match pattern:

    e.g.
Show users beginning with R in first name: "R*"
Show users having Tynon in their name: "*TYNON*"
Show users with special-characters in their name: "&||'||$||@"

    etc.

Right now the only way to chat with someone or find their profile or invite them to guild is to send them a short whisper by spelling their name exactly correctly and then clicking on the link to their name in the private chat window to view their profile. But we don't always want to fumble with obscure spellings on the keyboard to look up a person's profile nor tip them off that we are looking at them (their power levels and formation before an attack) by whispering them.

As it is, the only way to find someone is to page through hundreds of pages of ranking pages and hope you can spot their name in all the spam. Or if you know a priori they are in a guild then to look at their guild and search members. But not all play in guilds.

It really would be a nice feature.

I totally understand. The problem with this is that people can look up other people in the wild, and figure out whether or not they should attack. People WILL take advantage of it.. That's why it hasn't been implemented.

Because attacking someone with no clue how powerful they are is a really good idea.

A player's current stats, team, runes, equipment, stars, saints, everything except for the formation they are using is public knowledge to anyone who wants to find it. If they say anything in chat you can click their name for instant access to all of that information. To say that a usable search/browse on players hasn't been implemented because it will be abused in the wild is just silly. It's also really annoying that I cannot view player profiles or power levels from my guild page. I have to go through the rankings to find my members but I can't view a list of just my members with any meaningful stats.

The rankings in guild lists would be wonderful, as would search capabilities.. However, if you spot someone in the wild that you can attack, there are no ways of checking their stats unless you whisper them (by which they'd clue in and prob leave unless they were afk), or search for their name one page at a time on rankings. I know from personal experience that I would have held back quite a few attacks, had I known their power level, or attacked some people had I known they were easy to kill. It's not silly, which is why they took away the ability to check a person's power in the wild by replacing it with the crossed swords.

It's still easy to get the info using the whisper technique to beguile a person before attacking them. Just say "Pssst, I got a great website that gives free gem credits. If you join my guild I'll let you in on the deal." Then as they are pondering what you said and typing a reply you click on their user link in whisper-chat, assess their power and equipment levels and then rush in from off screen to dispatch them. Only takes 5-20 secs. Few will teleport back to Aierie City on a mere whisper and have no idea where it originated from. So the motive to not give us a more direct way to find people is really invalid if this is the only objection. Most powerful players already know they are in the top 5-10% of their class and just automatically attack anyone not in a friendly alliance or independent and steal their lunch money...

I like this idea. Would be nice if stats were searchable.

It would also be helpful to have the guild war planning panel sorted by players' power level. A small guild is not a problem really, but a highr lvl guild with 70-80 players is a pain.

I'm all for this searchability. If someone applies to my guild, I want to be able to pull up their profile. Heck, I'd like to pull up everyone's profile in my guild. I'd like to have a quick way to drop them a note, ask them a question or whatever. Yes, I can blast the whole guild, but I don't need to do that every single time.
