You guys completely missed this point. We have a player on our server who is 35M power with the next closest player being 20M. It's true that our "super player" pretty much has carte blanche over the rest of the server and granted he paid for that right. However, I agree with RiverBummer that if some kind of handicapping system were in place, then it would make it a lot more fun for the smaller players to at least have a shot at beating players like this.
