(Suggestion) Prevent claiming Guild Chests until you've claimed Guild Benefits

I've had a few guild members who have gone straight for the chests instead of claiming their Guild Benefits.

The problem with this is I can't place them properly for Guild Wars and they're not picking up map pieces to help their fellow guild members out.

Now, of course I can help them understand the downsides of going for guild chests first, but this is basically a player shooting their self in the foot because they don't fully understand the game mechanics.

I suggest that claiming a Guild Chest should only be allowed if you have already claimed guild rewards and a map piece for the day. This way players don't hamper their guild.

Also, why are players added to the guild wars list only after they've claimed benefits? That just seems all sorts of wrong (and it's very obnoxious for hosts/vice hosts).

Players having choices is good. Its their decision whether to do GW or not.

It's not just GW, it's Caribbean and also that the reward from even a Gold chest doesn't match the rewards from claiming Guild Benefits unless you get a Leader/Hero card (only exception as Guild Benefits are definitely worth at least 10 gems if not more).

Choice is fine but players shouldn't be encouraged to make bad choices with something like Guild Contribution. There's already a choice between the technologies and guild chests, both of which offer good benefits to the player. I had two players thinking they were bugged because they claimed chests instead of the guild benefits. They had no idea why they were having such a difficult time joining guild wars and participating in the Caribbean. That's what I'm getting at. This choice is causing player confusion.

Has nothing to do with greed and everything to do with the fog of the game mechanics.
They need to give at least a warning...

Considering how most of the pirate action is working, a few very powerful players taking everyone else maps, if I cannot be online that night for guildwar I would rather go for the chest. Getting a new minion, gems, or a leader card is a lot better then not sailing or getting sunk everytime.

If you can't be on for guild war, then you have to claim guild benefits and sail in order to complete the daily assistant tasks. Not to mention, getting half your rewards upfront, including guild contribution, makes those attempts more worthwhile anyway.

They do give a warning... It says the cost of the chest on the guild chest screen. It also says the cost of claiming guild benefits on the guild screen. If you can't keep track of how many contributions you have that isn't tynons problem. If its an issue of not having enough, I suggest doing at least decent investments. I do know that not everyone is VIP1 or higher so that isnt an option for some people. BUT if you participate in every daily event and gwf, and do your assistant activities ( you can participate even if you dont claim benefits) you can make more in contributions than the cost of claiming benefits daily. You may have to save up to be able to open a chest, but thats the joys of being non-VIP.

I agree with Dawn. It is every player's choice. If they choose to be selfish, maybe they don't belong in your guild if it upsets other people. But you can't force anyone to claim their benefits. Even before the chests there were players whom never claimed.

Agreed this sounds like a request for technology to fix a people problem. Awareness is the best solution here.
