I do know that not everyone is VIP1 or higher so that isnt an option for some people. BUT if you participate in every daily event and gwf, and do your assistant activities ( you can participate even if you dont claim benefits) you can make more in contributions than the cost of claiming benefits daily. You may have to save up to be able to open a chest, but thats the joys of being non-VIP.
I know that you can make plenty in contributions if you play all day. But that's the point - the GW needs to be planned for well in advance of people signing up for it. If you don't have the contributions to play GW then you can't get assigned. It should NOT take contributions to participate in the defense of your cities and should be an auto-register every day at reset independent of contributions totally. As it is we are double billed for GW - one from guild contribution pool to bid on the contest and again at an individual level to play. Just auto sign everyone up and if need be dock the guild treasury at a higher rate or let them loan it to the members who auto-reimburse out of the guild's overall winnings.
