Thread: 100 gems to remove level 4 embedded gems

Igivecreampies, it seems the devs disagree with you. It's not a question of who "deserves" to be ahead. It's a question of one aspect of the game (wb) providing a way for people, including non-coiners, to get ahead too fast, at a much greater rate than everyone else, and in a way that is self-sustaining and bad for balance. I'm obviously not complaining about VIP8 people, that is a straw man argument, if they are VIP8 they can afford paying 100 gems to remove the level 4 chip, and more power to them. I realize how high the rates get when they double each time. Doubling is a bad formula, I agree. But a high initial cost for level 4s is appropriate because otherwise the wb winner (and generally there is only 1 person who wins the majority of every wb) on each realm of each server will be unstoppable otherwise.

It looks like the devs are taking steps to minimize the advantage that the daily wb winner gets (see the change to 10m for final blow, and the change to plan drops), and they are also negating other things that allowed people to get ahead too quickly without coining, such as limiting attacks to 10. Most people know the cost of removing a level 4, or learn of it before they are completely full of level 4s. They/you have the choice of whether to embed them right away or save and synthetize for higher levels.

Given that a level 15 chip is pretty much not feasible, it stands to reason that even if you're getting two level 4 chips per day, there's an upper limit to the power you can achieve that way (e.g. you'll eventually get stuck for months without progressing in power from combined chips).

It takes 5 level 4 chips to get a level 5 chip.
It takes 5*5 (25) level 4 chips to get a level 6 chip.
It takes 5*5*5 (125) level 4 chips to get a level 7 chip.
It takes 5*5*5*5 (625) level 4 chips to get a level 8 chip.

Now, at 625 level 4 chips to get one single level 8 chip, you would have to rank 1st in Baal/Cerb AND get the same level 4 chip for 312.5 days straight. Given how that scenario is pretty much statistically impossible, it would actually take much longer to get a single level 8 chip. Given there are seven different types of chips, and assuming that each time grants you a different one (far more likely), you're looking at 2187.5 days or just under six years to get a single level 8 chip from placing first in Cerberus and Baal every single day. Even if you get lucky and get a lot more of a certain type of chip faster, it would still take you at least three or four years to get that chip. How many of us will even be playing Tynon at that time?

Given these hard cold facts, there is absolutely no reason to slow people down with this 100+ gem removal fee. Progress would already be slow enough on its own. Once you get to level 6 chips, increasing power beyond that easily takes months (getting 125 of the same chip to get a single level 7 chip would take you an average of 125/2*7=437.5 days, or over a year).

For those curious, a single level 6 chip takes anywhere between 12.5 to 87.5 days depending on your luck on chip types. That's a lot of time invested for one measly chip that you can't even move around once placed without spending $10 or more.
