If someone attacks or revenges you, and you win, you should be able to revenge.
If some one revenges you and you win, nothing changes. They still will have the revenge that they can do again in 24 hours.
If some one revenges you and you lose, they will o longer be able to revenge you from that revenge
and you will have a new revenge in your mail.
What I mean by from that revenge is that a player may have multiple revenges outstanding against you, one for every time you attacked them and one from every time you revenged them and won.. When they revenge you and you loose only that one revenge goes away for them, but any other ones that they have are still there. That is why sometimes you get revenge, loose, and 24 hours later get revenged again.
Arena fight do not count on any of this, of course.
