"$5 dollars does not a paying player make..."
VIP1 players don't have any better advantage than non-paying players to complete the assistant quest. I ante'd in with $5 because I really liked what I saw after the first few days (and one really horrible crash). I also considered getting the explorer pack to complement gameplay, but I got the Morgana card on the second day, so I didn't. I believe the changes in PVP were necessary. Pirate combat allows you to revenge players of any level who attack you while on ship. Guild warfare has yet to be seen at its best, though I'd expect anyone who coined to excel in that over someone who did not. Though luck (and persistence on the shuffle and rune generator) has a lot to do with everything in this game.
I have held back from serious coining because I wanted to see how things develop. Now that I see this and no word at all on a real release date I believe I did the right thing in holding back and waiting before spending more on this game. For anyone to coin and settle into a game, the game developers have to convince us that it is worth doing. Initially I was convinced, but now with the change to the Noble gem Lady, the increased difficulty in getting the 10 gems from the quest, and these changes basically harming anyone who wanted to "go rogue" and be guild-free (at times or most of the time), traveling around the realms in search of loot and power - the only thing I am convinced of is to continue holding back and keeping my credit card in my wallet for now.
I have a suggestion - give 1 gem for getting to the Knights chest level of points and then another 2 gems for completing up to the Count's level. Then give the other 7 for the King's Bounty. This way, even a "rogue" character can squeak by and upgrade gear and players who don't have as much time to devote to the game on a daily basis (some of us do work and eventually need to sleep!) can get something and not feel like they are missing out on something the others are getting. And the maximum is still 10 gems.
Something is better than nothing - and if it motivates you to get the maximum reward possible by trying harder on the days that you can, all the better. If your life / work / school keeps you from being more active, you still get something for trying. That makes a game more enjoyable and less frustrating.

Tynon was cool at first but now its just monotonous. I have coined and do coin so I can't say either way if they are catering to one group or another. I do think the mechanics of the pirate ship section should be restructured. I think you should only be able to take maps off those that are of equal power to yourself. This gives the smaller level or exp players a chance to gain rewards through the pirate ships. It should also be a little more reasonable to pick up the armor pieces needed to upgrade. All in All i'll continue to spend my hard earned money on Evony. Good luck to you Tynonians![]()
I think they need more ways to get gems and not just 10 crummy gems that you need to be on the whole day in order get. I think more people would play the game when it goes live if you can have a really good game going without spending money, personally the better the game i have going the more likely i am to drop $100 or more on it, i don't see the point of wasting 100 if you have a bad start with no free gems to get you going, with a good start and a little bit of money you can be top 25 making people more likely to spend more and more because they are happy with they way things are going, just the way i see things lol.

Saying that coining doesn't give players an advantage is a bit naive, after all that's what you pay for. However, without those coiners those who choose not to spend wouldn't have the benefit of a free game.
It's a two way street I suppose.

its weird i seem to get to the chest everyday without a problem and i play sparingly. Didn't they do a big expansion on what you can do to get the gems. I do agree the gems have been impossibly hard to come buy i arena hawk to try and get my items you can get some by beating another player your size that has some risked in the arena.
