Which is why I made concerted mention of the issue being more about balance and mechanics.
PvP is an afterthought and it's, quite frankly, a little silly. There are so many ways to circumvent the limitations. And when you do follow the rules, the only people on your list tend be the super-powered sharks that troll the seas. For the first few days, you can actually find people in the wild to hit. After that, it's a ghost town. You get an occasional person grinding for materials but since pretty much everyone is stuck on a boss, they're "in the wild" for 2 seconds then back at Sonia. Guild Wars is a mechanic that has potential, but the way it is now, it is obtuse and flawed.
Yes, and then all of you in the same guild can sit and knit scarves or something. Because with less than 10 people in your realm, you're not going to do much else.
Evony is a totally different game, obviously. However, consider that if Tynon were meant to be a game that was riveting to play by oneself, it'd be a downloadable single player client, not a game you're supposed to play on a server with other people. You MUST have some sort of interaction with other people to complete your activites and get the biggest payout. People can elect to participate in all or none of that, yes. I'm pretty confident that I would not play this game if it didn't have the social component and I certainly wouldn't have spent money on it.
As far as dimensional thinking, I believe I elucidated a variety of things in my post that shed light on the fact that I did not consider merging to be some sort of magical solution to all that ails Tynon. I have designed and written game engines for over 20 years now. Game balance is absolutely the most difficult thing to nail down. If you don't have it, you either have bored players or frustrated players. Tynon has hit gold by producing servers full of both. Games need to be difficult enough that you feel like you're achieving something and intriguing enough that you want to log in the next time to see what is going to happen. Designers need to play their games to death and listen to the (non-trolling) feedback of their playerbase. Discounting the obvious "GIVE MOAR STUFFS!" crowd, I think there have been several well-intentioned posts here that are being nearly mocked for even suggesting that there's something wrong.
Just because someone plays the game, I don't think it gives them carte blanche to whine about every aspect of anything that bugs them. But people really WANT to like this game and a lot of the folks here and just trying to offer suggestions that not only benefit them, but this game community as a whole. To discount them, I feel, is short-sighted.
