the fact is this.
We have all lefts sitting on the beach for about 9 days straight
The majority of the maps being stolen are LEFT MAPS.
Proving me correct not you andy. That there is no issue. You need to change startegy
And seriously there is usually more stolen maps then sails, its a simple fact.
If all the maps on server one are lefts but everyone is still getting their sails in, please share with us what patch or mechanic they have given only server one that allows all lefts to sail. We'd enjoy hearing about it. And I would like to request that such be made available to the rest of us.
That being said, I do believe there ARE mechanic differences between server one (and other single digit servers) and the rest of them that came out later. So, perhaps, if you would be willing to entertain that thought for about 5 seconds, that maybe what happens on sever one, the god server to beat all servers, filled with love, light and the top bestest players in the whole multiverse who are all-knowing, all-powerful and wise, is maybe, MAYBE, just -maybe- not the same as the double digit servers, perhaps, for that scant moment, perhaps there might be a problem that does not appear to be true in your happy world.
99.9% chance it doesn't happen. About the same chance of me getting a Left tomorrow.

basically its like this
IT ONLY SEEMS like the entire server is getting lefts or rights.
We thought the whole guild had lefts, then we started getting people logging in saying they had rights. But they were far and few between.
Then we saw other guilds making sails
And not just 1 every couple hours.
Yes I do think the most active players on the server are getting one side of the map and the less actives are getting the other. Or something like that. Ive gotten right twice in 9 days and the rest lefts.
Today its a left day STILL.
But I sunk a boat for a right and stole a right off shore.
Yet 80 % of teh guild has lefts
And the same is true across the server.
Pirates used to be
Ask in guild chat for the opposite side
Usually someone has it.
Click on pirates jump in an open ship and go sail. Then hope you dont get sunk
Then if you were adventurous you would try and steal a second map and do it all over.
Pretty boring actually when you think about it and not too challenging.
Now its a totally different.
There are matching maps you just have to get to them some how.
You need strategy
you need to pay more attention to the pirates screen for longer periods of time.
You need to be quick
you need to communicate with multiple people in guild at the same time to get this done.
Im not going into all of my strategies and so forth. I figured it out, and so have others. Like dawn seeker likes to say "Its more fun to figure it out yourself"
And as far as the difference between 1-10 and 11+
most of the complaints in the forums about this have been from 1-10 servers not 11+
But you will notice most of the nay sayers from server 1 about this have gone silent. Not because we are all suddenly getting maps like before but because we figured it out
Even Evilside who was very vocal about this issue for 2 days has gone quiet about it and hes from server 1.

Matt, I am glad it all works out for you on server 1 and that you think this is how it should stay. Keep at it. It is clear you see no issue there.
I am glad you can find the time in your day to stare at Carib.
Most also have other things going on that make this impossible unfortunately.
I doubt that the game should be playable only if you have 24 hours to be active?
Just checked our logs:
From 17.00 till 23.00 server time:
We have had 14 succesfull sails.
8 boats with L map were sunk out of anger for those who sit on the docks too long
1 boat was sunk for a R map
1 R map was stolen
Times 4 for the whole day it would mean 56 active sails.
We have at least 10 guilds covering that amount of people active. That means only 1/10 is getting a succesful sail. Please don't pretend this has to do with strategy.
These are results from an active server.
In the mean time, the majority of the players on here are asking for Tynon to do something about it. At least take the map we have a reset so we can steal other maps the odd times they appear.
If the patch has decreased the chance on a succesful sail, can this please be commented on so people can actually lower their expectations?
It will help to understand that making assistant will be impossible if you are less active during the day because you have to work for a living.
This may take away game value, but when people know what is going on, they deal better with these things.

The issue isn't the maps.
The issue is people.
People became too complacent and lazy about sailing in Pirates.
People don't like to think of new strategies to overcome issues.
And people like to act like spoiled kids sitting on shore and protesting (or just lazily waiting) until they get an opposite map piece fed to them.

well in my experience teh people sitting on shore are not sitting there protesting. Its part of a strategyOriginally Posted by Herby

I hear there is a patch coming that will resolve all this camping on shore problem... Sorry matt, looks like your strategy isn't gonna work for very long.
[Let's make treasure maps that you get from sinking a boat random, so making all one sided boats doesn't affect pirates like this anymore.]
[A timer that boots you off the boat if you have not launched it in 60 seconds.] & [A dismiss junk map button, so another can be taken.]
... and last but not least [follow up these actions with a five minute cooldown same as if you attacked a boat.]

Server 1 is huge. And yes, we get it. You don't have this issue. Move on, this thread is not for you.
Your constant opinions about how perfect and nice the new patch is working IN YOUR CASE are not wanted nor needed.
Think about servers 40+, where few people play (around 100 let's say). So if 94 out of those 100 are getting L maps, and the 6 R maps are too scared to sail with a R.
Exactly what "strategy" you all-mighty Matt sir suggest? Oh and just to add in a "little more spice", what if guilds won't agree to work with each other?
