I really hope so!
Also from your last comment in the GW/Arena thread...I think it would help move the server along, too, or break the death lock some guilds have over servers and realms.
Though in my mind it would be better to shake up the uber guilds that hold all the cities by giving them a constant source of competition, i.e. by having power players claw their way into the top servers, rather than just limited to special events. I think there is too much of a power gap between new and old servers to make a special event do anything besides give top players someone else to beat up on occasion, but if ghost guilds were being replaced by fresh competition there would eventually be a good scrap among the top levels.
Basically, I just see that it's possible for there never to be an "end game" in a server, since the only real dead ones in a pyramid would be at the bottom where the players who fizzle out after a few days aren't leaving their carcasses lying around and taking up space on live servers. Anyone who's active will quickly advance out of those servers and into others. Those on top will have to fight to stay there. Those who want to start over will have to do so from the bottom ladder and work up again, probably increasing the shelf life of many characters on here. I think Tynon would win, too, since parity creates arms races and essentially there wouldn't be room to get too comfortable if the level of competition was increased.
It's like a self filtering process. Simple. But I think the status quo is too entrenched to support it, honestly.
