What could easily be done here is a handicapped bracket system. You separate these bests by the age of their accounts. And as the brackets consolidate you apply a fair handicap accordingly. It would be similar to what they already do in the Palace every single weekend as you advance up through the statues. So so and so from two month old servers (account age pairs combatants) do battle in their best-of series and the winner takes on a little guy who owns server 91 with random sanctification mods based on the time differential. Similar to Palace statues. This at least ensures the early tournament is all-inclusive. This boosting from Tynon's back end could level each battle.

I don't think Dragonian is gonna like being beaten a few times by a Saffron from server 91 that is a descendent of Jesus though. What is probably gonna happen is exactly how he phrased it. The best from all of Tynon. So mainly you could assume its gonna be a royal rumble spanning 20-30 servers.

The handicapping idea is a shaky one at best. I'm pretty sure that if someone dropped 4k into an account and is sitting at 40m power, they are not going to take kindly to a 15m player beating them, nor should they. If you have better equipment and runes, higher talents and better stuff in general, you should not be disabled so that much lower players have a chance to beat you. That is just my opinion.

I feel ya Villian. My account has dropped from 5th to 12th in the past two weeks. It's because I'm so bored silly that I cannot focus on anything, and spending seems silly right now. I have let my account slip and it shows. Sure, a few days and a few dollars and I'll be back in action, no problem, but when that will happen nobody can say.

If the brackets were done by power and the handicap would not bring the power of all players to exactly the same level, but establish a target power range and then bring the players in the bracket to the range in such a way that they still maintain the same proportional power then it would be a matter of skill (formations, equipment distribution and rune distribution) and luck (dodges, breaks, etc). This would bring the lower player in the bracket within a reasonable range of the highest but not take away all of the advantage that the higher power players have worked hard to achieve.

If Brazil played San Marino in the football world cup, its a str8 out game, one teams players gets paid $100,000s and the other teams players have real jobs outside football.
But no team is handicapped because its the biggest tournament in the game. Its where the best play the best to win the ultimate prize.

but i would have no objection to it being broken up so younger servers fight only younger servers
cuz it makes no sense to take the top players form server 95 or whatever and expect them to even have a chance against server 1-10

But the World Cup is once every 4 years, not every week. What would be the point of having a weekly tournament when only a hand full of players have a chance of winning?

All I'm trying to say is no tournament is fair to everyone. Can't see this one being any diff.
Palace only the top guys can do it.
Rag only the top guys win.
WB another. Heroics only top guys get best gear.
War ain't meant to be fair.

Just a correction to DaBooMan ~ Ragnarok does not have a "winner". There is no prize for top players. Every player only gets reward of reps and credits based on wins/losses. No benefit to where you wind up in leaderboard other than perhaps bragging rights.

well mischief not quite
the leader boar for our server at least is 20-25 wins for #1 which gives you a lot more rep and credits then someone who has a max 5 kill streak because each additional win in a streak increases the rewards.

SO the top top guys can boost and make back the cost of boost and more at least on server 1
