Thank you all, this is so much food for thought. These aspects of the game are so interesting. Am only now building up alternate rune sets for easy trial and error. Klepto's practical Rune guide is also my new game bible.
I look forward to Herby's results on the Shayd blocking test. Reading above, I realize I will have to play with infallibility myself for shayd and blood. Any tips on how to test would be appreciated... I am going now on feelings and twinges.
Mages do Block but they never counter. I'm a mage build formation.

Yesterday, my leader blocked Minister Lascivious in Heroic Realm twice in a row. Couldn't believe my eyes.

How's that work out for you in the arena and heroics?
I imagine a mage only formation (minus the main) would be great for keeping an opponents morale gains down.

Cleanse and purge me in the water
extremely hard in Heroic Realm, its easy to win in Heroic realm, if you can do Skill Crit. But with mages on the other hand, it need to have survival + luck. Since mages don't need a moral rune and critical rune, they mostly rely in defensive runes.
In Arena, its also HARD because if you don't have the right runes to counter you opponent, you'll have a swift death. Especially when they are starting to have High magic defence.
Whats more, I think mages are program to miss no matter how high their Hit Rune is.
I wouldn't say its a fail or a success, its more like, trying something different. since, everyone has the common line up. But it keeps me playing though. because your something different.
