If 40 players hit Lady, the first 20 should get more than 100k IMO. If only 20 hit, then the current system is fine. If 30 hit, the first 15 should get more than 100k.
This would obviously mean the first round always starts out like the current system, extracts the number of players competing, then devises a way the next round to divvy up the greater-than-100k credit values among the top half of those who find her. It doesn't matter to me if it adds 100k per player (so 40 players nets a 2 mill top value), or if it tops out at the current 1 mill and some players get the same amount (e.g. for 40 players, 2 people get 1 mill, 2 get 900k, etc.).
Just my thought on how to balance it out. Older servers could/would obviously benefit from increased rewards here anyway, even up to the 3 mill+ range, potentially, to make it worth it for the bigger players.
