I was banishing baal. I struck what I thought was the fatal blow. Victory came across my screen and I thought I would get the reward,. But I didn't. has anybody else had this issue? what can a player do?

The final blow is actually just randomly chosen from the participants in the 'final battle' segment of the event. I've gotten the 'victory' screen as well. And all it means is that whatever damage you could have done was cut short because the darned thing died :P
When you see "Victory" come up it means you have killed him in normal mode. At that point he goes into "Rage" mode, and that is where the 10 mil coin winner is chosen randomly. Kinda pointless if you ask me, but that's the way the way the devs wanted it.
