I like them too, just not in heroics .

All the announcements come with advantages and disadvantages imo.

The banner is annoying sometimes but I like seeing what everyone is achieving on the server.. I can send a greeting or grats about successes.

I do not want to get rid of the banner, just relocate it to somewhere that is less disruptive. At the very bottom of the screen but not covering the chat box would be ideal. It you be over the icons and we know what those are and since the banner is click transparent it will not affect game play.

When it covers a player's power, such as a revenge look-up, or gets in the way of Guild War information, during a time sensitive activity, it becomes especially frustrating!
