Thread: Upcoming Server Mergers

    I know you are probably not looking for input (your original post sounds like you guys already have it figured out), but I will give my thoughts on how this could work:

    Servers 1-10 have been living fairly well for a long time (relative to other servers that can "end" after a month). This is due to the competition: the same amount from Guild Wars, but battles on the sea are more versatile when all large players have not banded together and players have more options in guilds -- instead of having a single guild that owns all cities, you have 5 that each owns their own set of cities.

    What I propose is to go back to this; merge 5 servers together and make each server a realm. So, for example, all of server 78 (my server) would become Forest Realm when the servers merge. Go back to having 5 realms instead of 3 as well. This would keep Guild Wars as it is now -- we would be fighting the same people, but the seas would become much more interesting. It would also give players who dislike the super guild of their server the option of leaving the realm and joining another server's super guild, while still giving others the familiarity of faces/names in their own realm. Perhaps give everyone their free realm transfer back when the servers merge.

    SO how to make more competitive without giving a guild overwhelming powers on a server:

    Limit a guild by numbers of people AND percent total power.
    Like a salary cap in the major league sports franchises.

    Server 38 is doing good all realms have active guilds and are able to take citys. Hope merger doesn't mess everthing up there.

    server 67 has about 20 active players and i sure a few of them are running more than 1 account,lllllllllady time your lucky to have 4 players on

    The 'salary cap' will never happen and guilds already have limited room based on your guild level.

    I do like Mr.Pirates idea of 5 servers moving into 5 different realms on 1 server, I think you would notice servers sticking together and trying to reclaim the new merged server which would create more competition. But I honestly think the current guild warfare system in place is fine how it is on servers 1-10. Can't change what's not broke. Definitely looking forward to the merge hopefully we can get it for Christmas!

    Less ego bruising, perhaps, but equally boring.

    I've been #1 in several games on several servers, when the Novelty wears off, it's still boring, BORING, BBBOOOORRRRIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!

    When merging servers, why merge old with new?? Seems to me the servers to merge would be servers that house players near the same power. The same should be happening with champion warfare, server against servers that have opened within say like 2 months of one another. That seems more fair to me.

    Now tell me what fun is there for the "newer" player to be up against older more seasoned players???? A real David and Goliath stand off ????

    While we wait - I want to share something we do to keep the game alive.

    I am in the top guild on 101. to allow the other guilds to grow - we have implemented 2 simple measures.

    1) no attacking boats below 4mil power
    2) we let Tynon do the GW allocations

    As the top guild in a server it is your responsibility to keep that server alive.
    If a tree falls in the forest, and Tynon is down, does it make a noise?
