Melding- anyone figure this out yet

SO i was very excited to try out melding in beta.

It seems you can only meld heroes of the same color - blue to blue - gold to gold etc.
It seems that you cannot meld a weaker ( and I use that term loosely) hero into a stronger hero. But Im not positive how this is selected to be honest.

SO I had a 3 star mortal Catherine and it was letting me meld it to my 3 star mortal Cairne. Now on the meld screen it showed 2 stars transferring from Catherine to Cairne. SO I thought this would give me a 5 star Cairne and a 0 star Catherine. WRONG!!!

I ended up with a 0 star Catherine and a 2 star Cairne

SO I am completely confused here. Melding the 2 gave me 2 heroes with less stars.

SO anyone figured this new feature out.

DAWNSEEKER - I agree its more fun to figure things out, but we may need just a little help on this one - because what happened to me doesnt make sense and may be a glitch or bug or it may have worked exactly as intended - I DON"T HAVE A CLUE. SO if we don't know how the feature is intended to work its a little hard to test it out. Maybe give us the basics of how it is suppose to work with a couple examples.

Melding transfers the stars and saint levels from one hero to another.
The second hero's previous stars and saints are all discarded.

Imperfect Meld: All star levels minus 1, and all saint levels minus 1, gets transferred from hero 1 to hero 2.
Perfect Meld: Hero 2 will get the same star and saint levels as Hero 1.

You cannot meld Hero 1 to Hero 2 if Hero 1 has a lower star or saint level than Hero 2.
You cannot meld Hero 1 to Hero 2 if the two heroes are a different color.

And before Morgan comments, I have observed and tested these on various heroes.

Yeah i get that much Herby
BUt apparently when you meld it erases everything the receiving hero has to start with then gives it what the giving hero has

I thought it would ADD to the receiver while the receiver retained everything it already had.

Has it been your experience that the receiving hero loses all its original stars and saintings then gets the new ones form the other hero?

If it just added to the receiving hero, then we'll see Angel V gold heroes in no time at all.

It both erases everything the receiving hero has, and gives it a new random set of saints.

It doesn't copy the giver hero's saint attributes.

    Thanks Herby.

Well I figured my concept of how this melding worked was too good to be true. This is an interesting concept. I will need to think how this could play out to be beneficial in the long run.

I think it's a way to jumpstart all the new heroes, since the heroes who will benefit most from melding are those with no stars or saint attributes.

We all know stars are useless the difference between 0 stars and 12 stars is about a level 6 chip worth of damage/defenses.

Melding will allow moving most of a set of saints which you'd find ideal on another hero. It would be far too powerful a feature if it added 2 heroes saint sets together.

Well I agree with that. It is a good way to sacrifice an old hero that you may decide is no use any more to make a better new one faster.

BUt I am not seeing how this could be useful after your heroes are well established.

I was thinking it would say let you meld a 5 star hero to a 9 star hero making the hero 10 stars now; thereby making it slightly easier to increase your stars and saintings. Of course the higher the stars you have the more stars it takes to go higher. SO you couldnt just keep melding a 1 star hero until you have a 15 star. ANd if you get to half angel 5 purple and have 10 sainiting you really dont like so much, it would make this easier to start over.
Or to create the perfect hero, allowing customization. SO if say you have alexa with a critical and a dodge sainting with a couple others, you could meld those into cianna hoping that the dodge and crit go over while retaining what cianna already has.

I figured there were many built in restrictions, but was hoping this allowed for some chance at customization of your hero.

Oh well. This is not the worst idea I have seen. ANd it should make things interesting for some.

I did a meld on two blue heroes which resulted in the 2nd hero getting a better stat than is usually awarded to the blue ones.
He got resilience +15. Up to now I haven't seen many blue heroes get yellow stats, so this was a nice improvement.
This makes me think melding makes it possible to get better saints.

Melding does not mean the sanctification of hero 1 will be placed on hero 2 as far as my experience tells me.
This meld gave the sanctification I had a higher result.
Both heroes are wiped clean of existing saints and stars.
The second gets new ones ( if lucky)

Ok now for the next question.

As reported in another thread, When you saint a hero all its saintings are already predetermined, sainting it only randomly unlocks one. If you reset the hero its gets a new list of random saintings available to it.

So when you meld, does the hero who loses everything and starts back at 0, get a new list of saintings, or if you re saint it it gets the exact same saintings( maybe in a different order of activation) it already had?
