Etiquette
Each server has its own style of play. Some actions will get you in trouble with other players. These may be legal, but not considered acceptable.
1) Attacking other players fighting Baal or Cerberus. When a realm fights one of the Banishments, players from several guilds (generally) work together. Someone may attack members of other guilds. Although a few PvP players claim it is part of the game, most players despise it. In general, fighting the boss gives players much more in resources than ambushing other players. New players should avoid attacking other players during baal or cerberus. Similarly, revenges during banishment fights tend to be counter-productive. If you manage to win, the opponent can take revenge at their leisure. If you fail, you just drew the attention and ire of a stronger player. Wait until the battle is over. Just after the battle, your opponent may still be in a weaker formation and received their rewards for fighting the world boss.
2) Attacking Ships in the Caribbean. Hover your cursor over a ship to see its power. It is better to attack a ship on the dock than one sailing. First, BOTH players defend a sailing ship. Second, sinking a ship costs both players sailing their maps. Attack a ship if you need a map (usually because you were sunk earlier), not just to sink other ships. Too many attacks, and other players leave the game or just give up on sailing.
3) Concerning Alternate Accounts (aka Alts). Alts violate the terms of use. Best to report such to customer service. Use screen capture to collect evidence.
4) Joining a guild. Possibly the most important decision you will face is selecting a guild to join. First, most guilds have a philosophy. Some may be PvP (player vs player) specialists who only accept veterans. Others focus on PvE (Player vs Environment) and following quests. Some emphasize social aspects and roleplaying. Don't just apply to every guild and hope you join a good one. Look for a good fit.
5) World Chat. World Chat uses speakers, and places a message that everyone can read. Pointless messages annoy everyone. In other words, do not broadcast your message unless you actually have something to say. Also, keep swearing out of world chat.
6) This is NOT a dating site. Nor do people want to see messages advertising one. Keep names, addresses, and contact information out of realm or world chat.
I hope this helps.
