I'm not a money spender on this game and here's why: I don't believe in buying your way to the top. I see no honor in it. I do not feel that my progress is truly rewarding if I have to buy it. Now, I know that making it to the top requires more strategy than money, but still: you can't be a top dog if you don't spend.
I would spend on this game, however, if VIP functionned differently. Instead of offering gems, which allow players to buy whatever they want, I believe purchasing a VIP should only provide privileges. Not being a VIP would not change the options available to a player, but it would make the gameplay easier.
Here's what I have in mind:
---------
VIP: Have access to auto features
Non-VIP: No auto-feature (ex. must grind everything one by one, full combat length; must be there for the whole Baal/Cerb. event)
---------
VIP: Fair/Bank/Arena/etc. are directly accessible from current icons
Non-Vip: Players must walk to each specific locations where such features are accessible in Aerie.
---------
You can see what I mean. To make VIP accounts more alluring, players could get a free 7-day VIP upon joining a server. After losing it, they would know what they are missing. A basic VIP title could cost 5$/month, for instance. Certain VIPs could cost more and provide more options.
I believe this would make the game more fair and rewarding. You wouldn't get the feeling of buying your way to the top when purchasing a VIP. It would simply be a lot more convenient and, eventually, necessary to be an efficient player.
