    Gem Usage

    Hey guys,

Just a quick question on gem usage as a new player. After all was said and done, I have over a thousand gems from the first 45 levels or so, and have gained a few more since then.

I'm still sitting on all those gems though, and was wondering what the best usage of them would be.

I read that resetting blacksmith/talent cooldowns is a good way to go, but is there anything else I should watch out for? I've been buying starts that are 2-3 gems in the fair as well.

    Thanks!

Using them to speed up cooldowns in 1hr 59min blocks, don't speed up a 2hr 30min timer for 2 gems when you can wait 31mins. (Good use of gems)
Early game 10 gems for 900k credits/1.8mil+ coins. (Good use of gems) Shrine becomes more cost effective then the fair as you get further into the game.
Opening up chip slots in gear as you need them (Good use of gems)

Buying stars (Bad use of gems) Stars you get from the guild chests will be all you really need, as stars provide next to no benefits, they are just power inflators.

I didn't know stars were a bad investment. I thought the 3 basic stats has a huge impact on a hero's performance. Anyone can develop a bit more on the stars and their real impact on a hero?

I wouldn't say a huge impact unless you can get to the 7 star and 9 star+ stages, but they do have some impact even at 4. I think it's a good idea to invest in them some but not to go overboard. Kruize also mentioned guild chests, but most do not invest too heavily in those unless they can do decent and grand investments to compensate.

From my calculations 9 stars is equal to about a level 5 chip per stat. So 5 x level 5 chips for 9 stars. (4 x for mages since they cant use phy and skill attacks).
So maybe a level 4 chip equivalent for 5 stars.

Definately not worth the gem cost investment.

Is the power added a fixed power or a power that's affected by level? If a hero level 1 gains 9 stars, is the bonus better for a hero level 70 with 9 stars, or is it the same? I'm saying this because you mention a fixed increase in power (level 5 chip).

My intuition tells me that the power added by stars is greater as the heroes gain levels.

You are going to need them later in the game to open up Chip slots in the equipment as you upgrade it so do not go on a spending binge.

While buying stars for low costs isn't the devil, stars do not have a ton of impact without being one of those lucky few who can afford to keep spending to get them to extreme levels and you should probably avoid spending a lot of gems on them. I mostly get by with free medals with the occasion 2-3 gem purchase of them on fridays.

yes it is the higher the level the more increase

stars add a % not a fixed amount, disregard what most people say about stars not being that crucial

Stats (actual damage/defense) added by stars is fixed.

Your damage goes up from stars because your command skill increasing, leveling will do nothing to change this. (Story progression adds to stats as well, but only for the main hero and not enough to change anything meaningfully). Its also difficult to see as your command/strength/intelligence stats are displaying incorrectly (I think).

But thats all offtopic for this thread. We are talking about gem usage here and good and bad ways they are spent.
