    Hero Choice/Recruitment

    - Put simply, the best heroes are gold, then purple, then blue, then white. The better colors have better overall stats. Usually, gold heroes have the best special attribute bonus (ex. Dawnbringer: +40 critical hit; Shayd: +20 hit, +20 Dodge), purple heroes are good too (ex. Queen P.: Resilience +20, Block +20), then Blue heroes (ex. Medhivan: +20 Hit). White heroes have no bonus attribute, and they have the worst basic stats.

    - You must also consider their skill attack. This is key to performing well in the game. Sweeping Slash, for instance, hits a whole vertical row, while Piercing Thrust hits a whole horizontal row. There are defensive skills also, such as Saffron's Shield Wall, which makes her a real tank by cutting by half (if not more) damage from skills and physical attacks. A well equipped Saffron with a Messiness rune (magic defense) can be very tough to kill.

    - Do not, ever, use a white hero. There is no excuse for that. Blue heroes are easily accessible for the beginning.

    - Store credits for Tuesdays. The Tavern Tuesday event is fairly important if you want to perform well in this game. You can indeed recruit for free whichever hero shows up. Take everything that is not white, and burn ALL your credits there. You will get hero's cards for the heroes you already have, and you may be able to recruit for free purple or even gold heroes.

    - There are other ways than the Tavern to recruit heroes. The Royal Challenge offers unique heroes that you cannot get elsewhere, but you must defeat them. There is also the Title Recruit, which allows you to buy heroes for coins. Then, there is the Championship Warfare (CW) Arena that allows you to trade tickets for heroes or hero's cards. If you haven't recruited or bought a card from a specific hero YET at the title recruit, it might be advantageous to do so instead of buying it from the CW. You can indeed get 32,000K coins for 8000 tickets (the cost for a gold hero at the CW). Dawnbringer costs 10,000K coins, Rhize costs 20,000K coins, SHayd costs 6,000K coins. You can almost get 3 heroes instead of one for the same price. Use your resources efficiently!

    - You will gain spirit from the Tavern when you shuffle and see a purple or gold hero. The higher your level, the more spirit you gain. You can use that spirit to redeem heroes or cards in the Tavern. Don't use it to buy blue heroes/cards. You'll be able to sanctify almost all your blue heroes to Half-Angel 5 (max) after two Tavern Tuesdays. Keep your spirit for heroes you plan on using for a long time. Don't waste it on heroes you won't use anymore in a month.

    Introduction to Runes

    - Runes are perhaps the biggest factor in deciding who wins a battle. With the right runes, you can beat people twice your power (I can manage to beat a player whose power is 5,000,000 while mine is 3,500,000.)

    - The first rule is to spend a lot on runes. You will never get good runes if you don't spend. I can easily spend over 50,000K coins a week, if not more. Now that number depends where you're at in the game, but this was for the sake of making a statement!

    - The best runes are yellow, then purple, then blue, then green. The better runes have better basic stats, and their stats augment faster as they level up.

    - You will find an in-depth explanation of each rune here: A Practical Rune Guide

    Runes and Formation

    - Runes are not enough on their own to perform well. You must consider your formation at the same time to achieve a good synergy. This will seem complicated at first, but you'll quickly get used to it as you play.

    - Always keep in mind what role you want a certain hero to perform. A hero can land a huge attack from the start, another can protect certain heroes, another can focus on blocking and dealing massive physical attacks AND counterattacking, etc. When deciding a hero's role, you must take into account saintings, basic stats, special stats, skill attack, and add runes to that and a wise place in your formation.

    - Do not only think about what you want your hero to do: you must also consider the enemy and your weak spots. For instance, if you fight Cianna, her skill hits the back row, often lands a critical hit, and stuns your hero. To counter that, you can use resilience on your hero, which prevents critical hits and stun attacks. You can also add a skill defense rune, since she will only hit your back row hero with her skill attack. Dodge is not always the best option, as some heroes will have excessively high hit ratings. It's sometimes better to absorb the damage efficiently than to try to avoid it. Another example: I used to use a tankish Calvin in my formation. His role was mainly a defensive one. He had strong physical defence, magic defence, high HP, and dodge. Moreover, he had a high morale retention from the Hope Bringer's set. Being in the frontline, he was hit often, took almost no damage, and always had a high morale due to high morale retention and being hit often by physical attacks. This means my other heroes could deal heavy damage while he took care that the enemy deals as little damage as possible by preventing them from using skill attacks (Will Breaker skill) and by absorbing damage. I put him middle front so that the enemy had no choice but to attack him in most situations.

    - You will eventually build up your own formation and see what works and what doesn't work for you. Always keep in mind that you formation cannot work against everybody. Sometimes, you'll have to switch heroes around, switch some runes, or simply replace some heroes to win against an opponent.

    Final Note

On a final note, try to plan ahead. Have an objective in mind and go for it. You will progress much better if you know what you want.
