I think we must keep in mind Tynon's goal is not to be fair or to make the game competitive. They want to make money (which is normal), and this new system will probably increase player retention. Why? Because it increases teamwork within the guild, and people stay because they have friends. I agree that the new system completely removed any kind of challenge there was in the arena, I also agree that it's "fairer" for the lower level players. But the result is mostly increased teamwork to share the stakes and prevent other guilds from getting them.
