I dont understand how worse can gaining stars be than this. i used 100+ medals to go up from 5 stars on my main hero and the very first attempt it came to 4 stars and it failed N number of times at 45% . Can this get any better at all ? u really can't rely on luck after all the efforts and money that is put into this game.
To Take a gold hero from 4 stars to 9 stars, lets go further and look at the dollars.
This is a ball-park reference for Coiners, just to give some idea of what 9 Stars might cost.
From above, the average person will need between 3210 and 7400 Gems for One Gold Hero.
50% of the people will perform better than that; 50% will perform worse than that.
Based on 1000 Gems = $88.00 per the Get Gems store.
The Average Coiner may spend:
low avg: 3210 Gems = (88 * 3.21) $ 282.48 -- For 6 Gold Heros: $ 1,694.88
high avg: 7400 Gems = (88 * 7.4) $ 651.20 -- For 6 Gold Heros: $ 3,907.20
For the 50% who are unlucky, I have arbitrarily chosen a couple of data points:
30% more: 9620 Gems = (88 * 9.62) $ 846.56 -- For 6 Gold Heros: $ 5,079.36
100% more: 14800 Gems = (88 * 14.8) $ 1,302.40 -- For 6 Gold Heros: $ 7,814.40
(6 Gold heros would be: formation 5, plus 1 sub)
Note: this system could cost an unlimited amount of money, as the 9 stars may never be reached.
And keep in mind that as new heros are brought into formation, the Stars need to be done again.
Now it is not an obligation to take a hero to 9 stars, but many feel the pressure/desire to compete.
Note: attempting Star upgrades only on "Free Star Fridays" could, in theory, reduce these dollar figures to half.
And, yes, Blue medals can sometimes be had for free if you are lucky.

stars stick way less than if you purchase them with gems. the free stars the day after never yields the same result as friday when bought with gems.
on average 13 star = 10k gems
This is a myth that free stars dont work as well as stars bought for gems

I think pussyriot is just frustrated his 200,000+ gems can't buy him a 14 star hero.
haven't tried to go 14 yet. to scared to even try it. don't want to waste 10k gems to find out it takes 20k to get there... not worth it.
