You will feel the need for cards and stars at around the 60M mark.
Currently sitting at a bit over 40M, and nearly all the heroes I actually use are at 6-stars. Have a few 8 and 9 star heroes and a 10-star Rhize as well, but unfortunately those are heroes that do not make it into my CWF lineup, lol. Guess thats just the way the game is... only let me gain stars on heroes I don't need.
Rocco hit the nail on the head, once you have L10-L12 of all the runes you will need, weapons at L90+, and talents approaching your character level, there is not much more you can do in terms of strengthening your heroes apart from stars and sanctifies. It is best to work a little at a time on stars and cards as you build up to that point, but not let it be a major source of frustration or worry. However, at a certain point, stars and cards will be the main focus of your game. Cards is actually not that bad (besides leader cards), since once your talents are maxed and your at that point in the game, you will a huge credit income with not much to spend them on. The sheer amount of cards you will be getting per week will offset all the fails, I am already getting 5-6 cards per week on average despite putting about 50-60M into talents every week. And I only do Lady 2-3 times per week. Stars are a little difficult though, since the amount of stars you gain (without spending a lot of gems) as you power up remains constant for the most part, whereas the amount of cards you gain as you power up increases linearly. The marginal cost of increasing your star income beyond your base weekly star income is incredibly high, 5-gems each.
Oh and with new heroes coming out soon, might be best to save your stars and spirits.
