Thread: What is worth spending and what not?

    What is worth spending and what not?

    This is just a personal opinion, but I feel there can be a topic on what and where it is wise to spend gems and how to make the best of them.

    What I personally feel as gem wasting:

    1) Summoning in the rune temple. You do get a good rune and a fragment, but if you wait long enough, you get these runes too. Also with a cost of 200 gems it is a bit overpriced in my opinion.

    2) Buying mysterious chests. They are not worth the value, surely not if you buy coins and credits for 10 gems in the fair. The only exception might be if you buy a chest on Wednesday with the extra coins if you want to purchase a black horse mount. Then you can purchase it for 99 gems with the coins you get, instead of spending 200 gems on it. On the other hand: I do feel mounts are not really an extra to your game and not something to waste gems on.

    3) Flipping an extra card in the Tavern. This costs at least 10 gems and you in most cases still not get the hero you want. Better be happy with the spirits and summon it later.

    4) Buying scores in the labyrinth. If you train it long enough, you get easily 90% 500+ scores without having to purchase them. By the way: if you spent enough to be at that VIP level, you did spent month of salary at once, or are already trained to make the best of it.

    5) Spending over 5 gems on cooldown. (this is just personal feeling)

    What I consider worth the money:

    1) Guild investments: since they might give you extra reputation and contribution, so you might upgrade some guild techs that might give you benefits, or chests that might also get you good stuff. Also you will certainly need 100 contribution to claim guild benefits.

    2) Unlocking sockets for chips in your equipment. The more you can imbed, the stronger your equipment gets.

    3) Purchasing reduced price medals for upgrading your stars in the fair or labyrinth, especially on Friday.

    4) Buying some coins and credits in the fair or offering in the shrine if you just lack a little coins or credits.

    5) Reducing cooldown for talents and equipement when you got the coins and credits, but not the time to wait several hours. (hint on this one: if it takes longer than a day to cooldown, you might use your credits for the tavern and the coins for upgrading runes while you are waiting)

    Of course, you all have a reason to disagree. What options do you think are worth your money in this game and which you consider gem wasting?

    1. = true

    2. = good @ start of a server...

    3. = unknown to me i aint that high vip to do that..

    4. i dunno here but im not jumping with joy over a 500+ score.. but buying them i dunno maybe EXTRA labyrinth runs but not scores.

    5. why stop @ 5 gems its a 2 hour basics? + thorsday is most important for that i rather spend 100 gems on thors day dan stretch it out over a week..

    1. well depends what u get always nice to get lvl 1 chips -.- not..

    - This should be a lot cheaper. 20 gems is reasonable enough for people to use it. 200 gems is just incredulous.

    2) Buying mysterious chests. They are not worth the value, surely not if you buy coins and credits for 10 gems in the fair. The only exception might be if you buy a chest on Wednesday with the extra coins if you want to purchase a black horse mount. - If you have defeated all the royal bosses, each chest on a wednesday will give you quite a handsome sum of coins or credits. During early server age, chests are the only way to get mass coins and credits.

    3) Flipping an extra card in the Tavern. This costs at least 10 gems and you in most cases still not get the hero you want. Better be happy with the spirits and summon it later.
    - Only use this if you get 3 unique cards in a 5 card shuffle.

    4) Buying scores in the labyrinth. If you train it long enough, you get easily 90% 500+ scores without having to purchase them. By the way: if you spent enough to be at that VIP level, you did spent month of salary at once, or are already trained to make the best of it.
    - Buying 700 scores isn't a bad idea at all. If you have VIP 9 to get that option, then might as well use your gems on things that matter. Buying 500 or 600 scores aren't worth it really.

    5) Spending over 5 gems on cooldown. (this is just personal feeling)
    - You will reach a point in which everything you have costs more than 5 gems cooldown. I believe this is where most of your gems should go to, aside from opening embedding slots.

    Well even by the mid tier the fair is even a bad trade compared to the 1/2/3 gem shrine usages. And one hell of a party breaks loose when you hit 10x multiplier.

    The problem is, past server 10, guild wars isn't realm-wide anymore, it's server-wide.

    Not everyone has the luxury of getting +150% from the shrine, most people forget that.

    I believe guild wars should be made server-wide also for servers 1-10, so everyone would finally experience how it should be.

    That is true. I am on server 4 and there it is so that all realms have a leading guild that has all the cities and all the other guilds have nothing extra. Making GW server wide would be a great idea in my opinion.

    Nah... Too many people like the old way. Not too mention, why have one uber guild, when you can have 5 uber guilds... I like the old style and see no problems with it.

    Not spending more than 5 Gems on a Talent or Blacksmith Cooldown is fine, if you don't ever plan on being competative later in game. I spend 100+ on good thorsdays, and still have resources left over to play with in the Tavern. Most of these examples are also Early Server and don't apply to anyone playing over a month.

    Thanks

    If our unique ghost problem, and the one with the city issuing was fixed we could hold as many city fights as needed. I don't see the problem myself but the other 4 realms on the server might.

    Yes because we want servers 1-10 to turn in to ghost towns like most of the other servers - BOTH concepts of GWF are flawed in design. We need a new concept
