DEV communication to players via closed thread?

Should there be a closed thread only for the devs to communicate to players and to continuously update with new features / changes / bug fixes with a gross time frame along the lines of ASAP / Tactical / Strategic / When we have got the time.

Of course, the current communication between the dev team and the player base is almost non-existent, anything that can be done to improve this would be a benefit. However that said there is a News Forum, I assume this was the purpose for this forum, however it is not being used by the dev team. any closed thread for use of the devs to keep us informed is also likley to be unused.

I agree with this 100 percent. As a paying customer I would like to know where this game is heading and is it worthwhile spending more money on. Lack of communication seems to be the biggest problem with this game. At least Dawn comes now often in the forums so it is a good start.

Actually I disagree with this idea. I think the forums is a place for the players to bitch and rant and share ideas and help each other. Its not the ideal place for the devs to communicate with us. Also every player does not actually use the forums. They get cluttered with misinformation and useless threads - making it difficult to find what you are looking for.

I think the devs should communicate with us ALOT more then they do. But they already have a better communication tool in place - that is seriously under utilized NEWS. You know when you log in theres that news section and its totally wasted with all the announcements of new servers. The devs could post information there for EVERY player to see and look through. They could improve the feature to make it better. They could also use a newsletter that you sign up for on the main page or when you create an account. SO every player gets it emailed to them. These 2 methods provide a 1 way communication directly to all players with out them having to read the endless ranting and whining, without us expecting them to responds to us, without someone having to search the forums for that little nugget of information. Of course all this information could then be double posted in forums for the forum users to bitch and rant about but that would be secondary., The point is to communicate with all players in a clean and effective way. I do not believe teh forums is teh best place for that communication.
