Perfect transfer just means you do not lose any number of stars or saints. So if you have a 7 star angel 1 smoulder and transfered to a 4 star saint 4 rhize. Then rhize whould have 7 stars and be Angel 1. The saints would still change. So if your smoulder had 5 golds...and you paid for a perfect transfer your rhize could end up with 8 golds, 3 golds, no golds at all, etc....
It's been shown that a transfer can have a horrible outcome, and that has happened to me, BUT they can have positive outcomes as well. I had an extremely good transfer to Lance, with several gold saints, all of immense use. Like most everything else, it comes down to chance.
