To be honest I think the largest problem with player retention is lack of interest past the first 2-4 hours or so on a new server. I'm pretty sure that most of the consistent players on this game were people who played Evony and understood the social aspect when they joined this one. If Tynon were to boost that aspect of the game I believe more people would stick around past the first 1-4 days. I also think increasing the population of servers will decrease the need for "noob friendliness" because competition will be spread out.

With NEW CONTENT and features, heroes, etc.
I have no problem with the game becoming more noob friendly, but not if that means they will be on my level soon, by doing less work or spending less money. Alas, this is already happening to a certain extent, just not with brand-new players. I'm seeing players fail on old servers, then go to an empty new server, spend 1/10th as much cash and doing well in CWF... lol that just makes me laugh though. Must be great being the only big player on a 10 player server. That says alot.
This is an interesting topic, and will bring some opinions I look forward to reading.
Server 1 is not typical of the old servers. I believe that given the right approach noobs are viable on server 7. We actually have some and they are hanging in there but I do not know how long they will because of frustration.

Yea evony created a social network between the players of the same alliance, this lacks in tynon the only guild chat i see is L or R ?

You don't really know GW till you play outside servers 1-10

I've been around since October and continue to actively play, and I had not heard of Evony before joining Tynon. And I'm not here for the social aspect either.

I agree with everything you said. The ones that quit after a few hours will still quit no matter what you do. The game is not for them. The ones I am trying to keep from quitting are the ones that play for a few days and quit because of frustration with the game. I know that the Developers believe that the players should find things by trial and error, but that leads to a lot of frustration and that, in my opinion, id the primary reason that we loose the players that make it past the first day or two. I am not trying to make the game more noob friendly, just provide a 'training area' where the noobs can learn the game by competing with other noobs and and be able to get advice from experienced players.

One of the most frustrating things for Noobs is sailing. I tried to get the dominant guild in the server to agree to a no sinking if the combined power in the boat was under 4 mil and they were not interested.

I said most, I know there are several players that never heard of or played Evony, but most of the people who started here came from there.

Andy: I like your idea but if falls flat once you shift to the 11+ servers. Cross realm GW's, not to mention Caribbean, etc. Overall I think we just need to re-populate servers 11-whatever-they're-at-now. and deal with the consequences. I think full mergers of 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70 are in order. 71+ should just have new players funneled into them. Their populations seem to be a bit better right now. And I think Tynon just really needs to fuel the social aspect. That's the main driving force behind people continuing to play a game like this even when it gets frustrating at times (like all mmos do). Increase server populations and server entropy will slow down exponentially.

I have started accounts on a lots of servers of Europe and Asia both, everytime a server starts there are plenty of players playing for the first few weeks they just end up quitting cause they re not having enough fun losing all the time or whatever. I don't understand how spending money would be different based on servers as the game is the same throughout, yes maybe because of the updates in the game some might spend less now than they did earlier

    Just one example:

When you buy 1k gems now, you also get 50 tokens, which has led to new players on new servers having much better spirit levels than older servers... And that is just tokens, many new things have been added to gem packs since X-mas. If you ask me, coiners on older servers should have gotten some kind of bump for that, but that's just me. If I had all the 50 tokens for all the 1k gems I purchased, I'd be maxed out on judgement Spirits atm.
The worst thing they ever did was making tokens purchasable. I once said I'd like to see Tickets redeemable for tokens, but have since changed my opinion of that.

So, essentially it's VERY MUCH easier to play now and VERY viable to start an account on an older server, if you plan on spending. F2P, not so much.

Yes I am pro noob friendly but only to a certain extent with everything there has to be a balance and yes I do not like the idea of giving away lab tokens in those packs ( though I am guilty of buying them)
