Thread: Removing Smoulder's Nerf

  1. #11
To be clear, Smoulder was never nerfed. Not every hero uses the same damage coefficient when calculating their skill strength. Smoulder is on the low end of this coefficient, because his base damage is high. In other words, he does a lot of damage early on, but doesn't scale as well with gear. This is intentional.

I do agree with the point that having the 6-piece bonus help mages more would be advantageous as it could extend their usefulness. Overall, I think mages are a bit behind at the top levels.

Thanks for your reply Dawn. I think current mages should not be altered, and that adding 6-set bonuses to mages would throw off the game balance. At best, maybe Tynon can double the Magic Attack bonus from the 6-set bonus, and NOT tweak anything else, like stun rate, hit rate, damage coefficient, etc. How about Tynon adds some new mages to fill, "niche," roles? In the current game, physical characters are your primary damage dealers and tanks, while mages either play a support rule or fill a certain niche that makes them useful in certain situations. For example, Smoulder provides good firepower to lower-middle power character, Shayd can keep a boss stunned, Mulan can reach target behind the tank, and Queen Bryn gives a chance at stunning multiple heroes. Suddenly improving mages drastically may throw the game off balance. Mages are there for utility, support, and to fill niches, and in exchange for their special powers, they are not as strong as physical characters. That is the way the game should be. Instead of improving current mages, we could instead ask for new mages that provide our parties with new abilities and powers.

For example, mages that can buff friendlies or debuff hostiles could be added to the game.

Debuffer- attack mage with a AOE attack that does light damage but has a chance to apply a debuff to enemies, such as reduced damage or added miss rate.
Buffer- support mage that adds a buff to the whole party every turn, such as improved defenses or improved attack or improved stats such as dodge, crit rate, etc.

How do I avoid taking HEROES which, I believe, are being forced /pushed on me Cairne, for example. I"VE GOT A TANK; Themistocles, but it seems that Dude is trying to force me to take another one! Maybe I should-but you know how it is; when they seem to force it on you, you definitely don't want it!
I wouldn't mind so much if I thought I could dump him later. But I don't know how. It's like he gets to be family. I've got ENOUGH family! But seriously, Is there a way to dump one you've got or avoid being forced to take one you don't want?

A long time ago, we had support in the game that added morale to your entire party and/or lowered the morale of the entire enemy party. That might be interesting to bring back.

Dawnseeker, we have those in the game at the moment…
    Are you even playing it?
Also mages are still not the best pick against those heroes.

Two totally different heros. It depends on the formation you are facing. DB hits across a line so that if they are not lined up one next to each other she is not effective. Smo can hit everyone, but his hit rate is low.
