I have been here from the start (almost) I started on server 4, but decided to change to a newer server after i have learned how to play the game. On the new server a superguild was formed, and very soon they owned every city. ( respect, they did a great job) After a short period no one could compete with them and GW became a joke. All pvp and fun disappeared, and a lot of people disappeared too. Now we have had a server merge and the hope was that more guilds would make the server fun again. With more active guilds they couldnt defend all cities. What is happening now is: They are merging with the strongest guild from the other server. I bet they soon have all cities again, and once again the fun will be gone. I think: The way those city buff´s are made, and the fact that one guild can own them all KILLS all pvp over time. It makes it profitable for people to make superguilds and own it all. And it prevent smaler guilds to grow fast enough to keep up with guilds that get all the bennefits.. So it comes to this: Join the superguilds, play witout any chance to compete or leave.
I still say that the ideal solution to the problem is to limit the amount of power that a guild can have. Unfortunately that can not be done without having the Uber guilds shed members and that would not be acceptable. Giving a handicam to the players that die in GW will make the smaller guilds more competitive.
It looks like, at least on your server, the merger made the problem worse instead of better. maybe what should gave been done is to cap the power of the Guilds somehow so that players from the two Uber guilds could not merge and the uber guilds can no longer take in players that have become stronger. Then those players would get together and form a 3rd Guild that would start to grow and eventually be competitive with the other two.
The handicap system wold still work anyway because it is self limiting.
The opinions expressed on this post are my own as a player, not as a Moderator.
And that will continue to happen as long as the buffs are connected to gwf.
Hence why I keep saying just make the buffs part of the guild level or once you reach a the correct level guild you can buy the buffs with contributions. Then people will not be forced to feel like the nee dto be part of the uber guild. People may leave the uber guilds joing smaller guidls who are at least level 4. ANd gwf can be about PvP and you get rewards of coins/creds/exp/rep
Exactly same thing happened with s61/s66 merge. s61 already had one superguild that owned everything, s66 had 2 close to equal guilds competing over the cities.
Now after merge everyone is flocking to the superguild who ruled s61. Looking at the power rankings 2 first pages which show 24 top players, 18 of them are in the superguild.
Within a week from now they will own everything and the server is basically ready to die or have another merge.
You see everyone claims they want a challenge, but usually only when they know they will win. This is how this will go on every server forever Until the buffs are not part of gwf. or the buffs are changed I am not for changing the buffs since they have been here since beta. Just make them part of the guild level.
How would you determine which guild gets the handicap? Would it be total power? Power per player? On some servers, the strongest guild actually have much less total power and less power/player than its toughest rival, yet still are able to dominate the guild wars.
I just dont see whats the point of playing in a superguild like that. Games like this are waste of time without challenge and competition. These superguilds basically turn their server into single-player game.
You could go ahead and delete GW and just hand out all the buffs for everyone on servers like this since almost everybody is already in the same guild getting all the buffs anyways.
And while youre at it hand out sailing rewards daily also since the superguild gets all of them done anyways every day if they want to.
These servers are like playing minesweeper without mines. Sounds so exciting doesnt it?
I got a question for all the superguild members: What was the most fun GW you had so far?
Was it the one where you steamrolled over the opponent in 5mins?
Was it the one where you got steamrolled by the opponent in 5mins?
Or was it the one that lasted full 30 rounds without either guild knowing how it will end?
Thats what i thought.
I dont know what the best way to change GW and the buffs is but something needs to be done. And hey its good for Tynon also. Competition makes people spend more money in the game, i can guarantee that.
