And I have only won the CWF 1 time, so it has not been my source for chips as of yet. Maybe it will add to my chip progression as I continue to participate in it.

Yes but considering all your heroes are fully starred and sainted, you can spend tickets on chips. I don't think you get that many extra chips for winning vs finishing top 8 anyways. But the chips you can get from finishing top 8 only a portion of the total chips you can get from CWF, since you will get tens of thousands of tickets to buy chips with.
