A suggestion to refrain alts

Account sharing and alt accounts are two totally different topics. If you watching your friends account, 9 times out of 10 that account won't be 50 levels below you AND you should NOT be revenging an account your watching for a friend anyhow.
I am not against watching/running accounts for friends, family, etc. After all, people have things to do, jobs, families, whatever. Other people can play all darn day. There are multiple warnings about the security but if you wish to do this, you should be able too. I don't think account SHARING and Alt Accounts should be interpreted in the same thread. They are two totally different issues.

Yes they are and therefore before we get carried away ourselves;

• Alt accounts are ONE person starting and running MULTIPLE accounts simultaneously on ONE server
• Account sharing is LOGGING into that isn't yours or SHARING YOUR details with a third party so they may log into your account

I know the latter is commonplace and widely accepted but it would improper of me not to point out that it's against the ToS. There are official channels we are all supposed to go down if we wish for someone else to account sit while we are on vacation but that needs to be discussed with Customer Support.


Back on topic, whether it's a good idea or not in the long term a 10 level zone for revenges is the only one that actually makes sense. So yes if this was implemented I'll go with it.

Haha it's okay we are all weird but i was just saying that during my leave of absence i would like it to be okay for someone to get on and take care of my assist and get me in main events that is all I'm not giving my account over for ever or anything like that only during my absence.

I thought alts were not to be talked about lol, and here we have a thread 6 pages long about them, So its open season now to bring up this subject? Before the threads where closed within 2 pages....

yea that is what i said earlier as well not everyone who has seen the thread would have known the potential of alts but now they will after going through this thread. The longer this thread goes on it only encourages people to create alts. Dawnseeker has also already seen the points of some people in trying to stop alts so there is no reason fto keep this thread going and if someone comes up with anotehr idea they can always PM him.

The real issue is why there is so much blatant cheating being allowed.

If there wasn't money involved then I'm sure there wouldn't be an alt issue, Tynon would of booted them ages ago.

Time for a healthy dose of realism. Alts have been mentioned in every thread currently discussing GWs so what would you have us do, close every one? Then people will complain they aren't able to speak up.

This thread is about coming up with ideas to curb alts, rather than encourage so please guys stop getting your panties in a twist.

People always like to bring up the theory that Tynon allows players who spend money to have alts...false. It is just incredibly difficult to both discover someone might be using alts, and then to track their interaction to prove it. It takes countless hours for each player investigated, and most of the time it is nearly impossible to prove unless they ahve 5-10. If you suspect players of breaking the ToS. Report them. Have others report them. If Tynon feels there is truth to the accusation they will investigate and take appropriate action regardless of how much money the player spends. Just recognize it takes at-least 20-30 personhours to investigate an accusation of using alt accounts. Also if you want to accuse someone, list all the accounts you feel belong to the same person, otherwise it is even more difficult to investigate.

Personal example (although not with alts): There was a player on my server at under 600k rep who had both blood and theseus. 2 heroes she should never have had given her rep, even blood pre-patch. I was curious so I questioned her and she admitted to using glitches to unfairly recruit the heroes. I took SS, and submitted a ticket to Tynon. Within a week I know she was banned because she hasn't logged in since. I was sad to see a player go, but I also want everyone to compete on fair ground within the game.
