Thread: Could we get a bit more randomness in our random?

    Could we get a bit more randomness in our random?

    I am told that the map pieces being left or right is random. Every day there are a bunch of lefts or rights sitting all day on a boat waiting for a mate. Two Saturdays in a row I was unable to get my fourth sail because of this. Please add a bit more random to the maps so we are not all getting the same map.

    Flash games that use rng tend to use a time based algorithm, with something where there are only two options, it is probably not the best way of doing things, but it kinda works.

    When I program a RNG I get the computer time and use the milliseconds. It can not be manipulated and it is pretty random. As car as maps is concerned it should be that they alternate for the Guild instead of being based on the time of the day like it is now.

    Yes it should be more random. I just used 50 guild contributions and got a right map. There are currently 6 guild members sitting in boats with rights who can't sail. There are 3 members of other guilds sitting in boats with rights who can't sail. This does not include the scores of players too weak to sit in boats or those who gave up and logged off. Please fix this fast.

    Flip a coin 10 times. The odds are 3:1 that you will not get 5 heads and 5 tails. Random means random, not even. They are completely different things.

    Time of day is not a factor.

    I did not say it was, but if you take the current time and use the milliseconds part as the seed for the RNG it is as random as you can get and it can not be manipulated.

    Ty for clearing this up. For the longest time I thought time of day was a factor due to the number of times everyone online having the same map. Still pretty sure your RNG is broken a bit.

    Tynon have the power to make the distribution of maps more even if they wanted to
    Id suggest them make it by nerfing the randomness to evenness by like 3% ... hey its better than nothing and do you realy think they'd make it anymore than that ... I actually doubt that Tynon are going to change therandomness to a bit more evenness ... c'mon Tynon, Prove me wrong !

    How's about setting up boats on the other shore going the other way so we can just double the sailing availability?
